Dawson's major talents are absolutely wasted big time playing the bash and crash inside mid role, one only had to look at his late season form to see he was banged up from all the hits.
Edwards is a tall mid but you'd hardly call him big bodied and he'd have to be being developed as a midfielder which doesn't appear to be the plan when we have top up Jay Boyle leading the midfield rotations outside of Schoenberg etc in the Snaffle.

Well Curtin is the expected big body mid. He will be massive by round 1 next year I'm sure. and even Edwards definitely should he more than big enough with another pre season. Agree quicker we get dawson out of there the better. cannot disagree with that I just dont think its as big a need as the zac bailey type

Sydney have been shopping Rowbottom around.

They approached us early because of our midfield needs but we had limited interest

I find that hard to believe, the talk with Rowbottom was the Swans were putting his name forward in a trade to get Curnow. If Rowbottom was at all interested in coming to Adelaide I'd expect we'd be all over it at this point. Not a great kick but he's tough as.

We need someone to feed the ball out to Dawson, Rankine, Curtin & Rachele... & also provide good defensive cover... as he usually cools the opposition's best midfielder.

Rowbottom instead of Berry gives our midfield a good balance imo.

Re Rachele in the midfield:

Gary Albert Jnr started as a small forward / forward pocket. He started playing small stints in the midfield around 22 years old and full time from 23 years old.

Josh Rachele is 22.

Similar height and weight.

I’m not saying Rachele will be good as one of the greatest players ever to play the game but the idea that we can’t even try him in the midfield is crazy. Guy is the second most skilled player after Rankine on the team, has high footy IQ, and is who you want getting the ball.

He had a horrid year with injuries but people forget how good he was early this year. Was AA form before the North injury. Even coming in for a half after missing months of footy was one of our best looking forwards against Hawks. He’s probably been set back a year with those injuries but absolutely should play a few midfield minutes and you never know.

He won’t be that inside player we need I’ll give you that, though…

Rachele actually holds the ball in a similar way to Ablett, let's hope the similarities continue as the potential for further breakout is there.

I'd trade 16 for Rowbottom. He's a heart and soul type, who rarely plays a bad game. Makes the game for a team's play makers. I'm surprised Sydney would trade him but they probably aren't getting any interest in Florent. Only just turned 25. Much prefer him over Zane Duursma who has shown little so far
