I'm not sure what it is he had to be embarrassed about but I will defer to your superior knowledge and experience on the topic
My point is that the pick offered this year would end up being about pick 25 in a weak draft.
It's more than likely that player would be a dud.

FFS, why is this thread still being dominated by Cats fans? He's not going there, Geel have nothing to trade, move on to Marshall.
Why are you getting so upset about it? Cats fans can post here, it's the DTFA forum

Geelong supporters are insufferable really. Matches the persona of Mackie trying to lowball clubs for contracted required players.. what a rubbish club to deal with.

Don't say we didn't warn you, Carlton better go to Curnow and say it is Sydney or Carlton take your pick.

Graham Wright has his hands all over this - CC hasn’t publicly chosen Geelong because they won’t be able to get it done - he’s also met with Cox & has had a medical with the Swans.

If he stays all good :).

What’s a forward of CC’s quality worth to the swans who lack any real forward target to kick to?

I don’t believe they’ll die wondering.

Cats should land Marshall & should be happy with that.

List what rule has been broken.
You being precious isn't one of them.

I also think we will put up a fair package we've never tried to screw teams at the table, look we are more realistic putting players up.

The reality is none of our players want to go to the Blues so we are stuck with 3 x 1st rd picks which arent great.

Who said they had to go to Carlton? Could have had in motion a 3-4 club trade, but no the old here's 3 very rubbish first rounders

Don't worry, you've got those customary 10 goal beltings to look forward to

10 goal beltings of Geelong? Going to be a bit tougher now without TDK and Charles I'd have thought
Oh I was just continuing the convo with Bagger about how Carlton hands us 'annual customary' 10 goal beltings once every 24 years as he/she had earmarked it as their favourite tradition of Geelong vs Carlton ;)

PSA.

Mackie has done no such thing. He said before trade period started that Carlton would set the market.
We've made an offer, it isn't enough. And we're not actively going to ask someone to leave, they'd have to approach the club.

I applaud that stance. You don't become a destination club by turfing guys out, or to the chagrin of Jack Higgins, by offering A grade money to B/C grade talent.

So what if it is the best we can do? We haven't pursued Curnow, he wants out and wants us, it's just unfortunate it is in a year where the trade assets available relative to the contract length left are inadequate.

I have NFI why so many Carlton fans have an issue with Mackie. He's doing what's best for his club just as Austin is yours, and in this instance there's a sizeable gap to an agreeable solution.

Question for Carlton fans. In our shoes would you be wanting a best 22 player to be tapped on the shoulder for CC while we have two competent KPF already? To answer the reverse question. In your shoes I don't expect you to accept the offer we've put forward. But we had to offer something otherwise it may deter others in future years from choosing us if we make no effort at all.

The reality is that the Curnow camp have ill thought out this off season, and who knows why, maybe something in 2025 has triggered a desire to get out now. But we don't have the ability to do the deal, and we don't actively pursue many in-contract players. Pert tried to gift wrap Oliver last year, and now Curnow and Marshall have sought us out.

Couldn't be simpler. Both clubs position is perfectly fair.

As for 3-4 club trade. How does that matter? Doesn't change the unwillingness for club to tap player or for player(s) to seek a new club. That isn't transpiring.

Weirdly you'll be a better side minus Charlie, purely and I've said it 100 times in the match threads, when one plays (regardless who it is) they play better. Is it any wonder McKy won his AA when Curnow wasn't there? Is it a wonder Curnow's best year was when McKay missed a chunk?

TDK is a loss but Pittonet is fine, and paying rucks a million plus is just dumb
