You believe pigs fly too I guess.

Every player not playing would.
I doubt Bews and Cam Guthrie would be enough and we would gift those players to clubs, we have a bunch of kids who arent ready for AFL and we have our 30 that rotate depending on injuries all want to stay. thats why Swans are favourites to land Curnow

Bews might, though it's hardly a position of need for Carlton. One of your 20 mid half forwards might be enough. It doesn't have to be to Carlton, it might be to upgrade that awful first rounder this year, that's the biggest issue beside anything else.

again tell me who wants to leave?

who on earth knows but if you believe for one second in a squad of 40 odd that no one wants to leave you are kidding yourself. It's nowhere near reality, there's always 3-4 players even if your side wins the thing, more the lower you go on the ladder/teams wanting to make moves.

again we have a mix thats is very young that aren't ready, those that do want to fight for a spot, maybe its why players want to come to the cats.

For us, it would be mostly fringe types looking for more game time, or blokes like Bews who have been overtaken by younger players but could still get a role elsewhere.

None of whom would move the needle much. Nobody's forking out a Top 10 pick for Bews or Stevens.....

What do sydney do with mcdonald, amartey and mcclean? Surely have to move on one of them right?
McDonald played 0 games, Amartey 8 & McLean 19. I don't think they are even a consideration given they could barely get on the park in 2025.

If all 4 (plus Curnow) are healthy, then the 2 in the best form make it into the team. They aren't good enough otherwise.

They might get upgrades and that's what you'd be doing, upgrading your first to an area that's acceptable by Carlton. Now Carlton have set the price and they have the right to do this.

Ok but assuming they're not injured, you can't imagine two of them would be happy playing reserves. They're very handy players. Carlton should get one back.

I'm assuming McDonald stays, but yeah you would think either Amartey or McLean would leave if Curnow comes. It's surprising those two haven't been discussed more: from memory Amartey or his manager came out and said he wouldn't be interested in going to Carlton a couple of weeks ago.

If it goes ahead IMO it would be:
Curnow - FF
McDonald - CHF
Amartey - Int
McLean - VFL

Only one would play reserves. My guess would be Curnow, McDonald and one of Amartey or McLean as the backup ruck.

Next step in this saga is an article coming out about how Curnow is actually going to pay Geelong $800k p.a. for the privilege to play for them.

All jokes aside, something must seriously have gone terribly wrong between him and Carlton if he's publicly pushing "I'll pay 1 million to leave this place" lines....
If you read below the headline, I think this is a huge beat up.

The blues ITK posters said ages ago his deal was front ended, the $900k left per year is just the residual amount, not a pay cut

Surely things can't be that bad at Carlton that Curnow would rather drop 1 million than remain at the club. Not sure how accurate these reports are but would be concerning if true.

I think his contract was front ended, so the drop in value was always occuring.

Hence his desire to leave in the first place. Cash in on the first 2 front loaded years of a contract and then demand a trade when the $ even out.. There should be a mechanism for the club to recoup the $.
