Good call. We have been thin in our list for big bodied mid-fielders. Basically its Wine and then just Drew until now. I hope Brodie can recapture his form from 2022 and turn the frustration at being forced to wait for a chance to return to playing games in the AFL into extra grit and determination to cement a spot.

PJ Power was saying he thought it was 2022 that Brodie had his good year while Carr was there.
I was just saying he hadn’t played for two years and from memory he played 5 games in 2023, so with that in mind it must have been the year Carr was midfield coach in 2022.
It’a factual statement not an opinion statement.
If you want my opinion on him I’d say someone who hasn’t played a game of AFL in two years for a team like Freo isn’t much to get excited about.
I’ve actually seen him play a fair bit for Peel in the WAFL and he’s looked pretty good to me at that level.
Going on his Peel performances I’ve seen he’s better than some of the ones we delisted this year.
Hopefully he improves our depth but anything above that is wishful thinking.

Agree. He's still young enough that he should be able to adapt to the pace of AFL footy again, without his body slowing him down. If we got anything like his 2022 output, it would be an enormous and unexpected bonus. Most of all, I have a lot more confidence in him coming into the side instead of Mead, as our replacement mid for the weeks when one of the other mids is absent (including rounds 1-2 next year without Wines)
