Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Nah. He will be pushing to go to Cats all next season and we will get less

Soapy with all due respect Charlie is a professional and if he wants to go to Geelong he’ll pull his finger out next year as we will want a first round pick and then some to get Cody Walker.

We have the whip hand here so I’m not fussed if he we trade him for a future first this year and some steal knife players or a first next year and a steak knife.

Either way we get Cody Walker and we stand up to these player managers who think they can push clubs around with contracted players. Melbourne held Petracca last year and he’s still getting them two firsts this year and he didn’t sook it up.

In saying that I think sydney will relent on 22 as part of the deal and we’ll take it

If this deal falls through and Charlie stays, the amount of booing he will receive next year will be deafening......he will walk into the change rooms and start to cry lol.....no life style here!!!
When we play saint kilda it might be constant booing. lol.

I’d imagine Charlie first goal will be a silent MCG round 1. If he touches that jumper I will jump the fence.

No one is being pushed around. Charlie doesn’t want to be at Carlton and will definitely do this again next year if he stays

We have a massive chance to reset the club the way Wright wants

As for Petracca how well did staying a year help the club? If anything if contributed to lack of effort and standards during year. Oliver the same

We will need another good 1st round pick to get Cody. That will cost and eat into further opportunities

Keeping a player that doesn’t want to be there is not good.

We are trying to change our culture and standards. Keeping Charlie for another year won’t help that

Zach Merrett might be the only bloke who can burn his bridges and yet come back and be the clubs B&F. Not sure what that says about his club.

I have a good friend who is a Sydney fan and he thinks Florent is being very underrated when I mentioned the feedback here. He's a pretty good footballer. He is a player who adds to our best side. He is durable and has experience.
Yes,

I think people might be forgetting the piece of swiss cheese that passes for our current list.

Well we finish bottom 4. Set a standard for Charlie and opposition teams chasing him. Petracca is still going to get Melbourne with 7 and 8 + more. I’d take that for Charlie. In fact I’d take 7 and Humphrey in a heart beat.

He sacrifices babies to the Dark Lord and beckons the coming of the End of Days!

I am not an ITK, but the trade will go through by 5pm tonight.
What Time Is It GIF by Atlanta Jewish Film Festival

Good luck. He will still be contracted and Geelong will still be offering nothing. They can wait until he’s 32 and their team has fallen off the cliff.

So just keep putting up with the distraction of an unhappy high profile player for another year whilst we are desperately trying to change the culture and standards?

Makes no sense to me

There are massive positives in trading Charlie. It can set us up for the next decade. If he stays we are limited in what we can do and have a constant distraction

Hilarious take...

Based on what exactly?

DUI?
Reinjuring his knee playing basketball?
Reinjuring his knee on his stair case?
Questionable off field activities?
Crying about being told off by his coach?
Riding his push bike to a game in a pair of slippers whilst under an injury cloud?
Sitting in a box watching the Cats play in finals?
Hanging out with Bailey Sniff and allowing the antics by the Cats re getting him over there?
Lying to the fans about wanting to be here next year?
Not putting an ounce of effort into vast majority of his games this year?

He's no Bryce Gibbs unfortunately... Soap is right, he will sook it up again and his trade worth will be significantly lower due to 2 poor seasons in a row...

You’ve got to set him straight.
Acting like a pillock won’t be tolerated.
Put him in the centre for all boxing drills. All-in attack.
Denting his own brand and endorsements.
Time to grow up, Charlie.

Not to mention a future first next year is pushed into Tassie drafts. Whether we like it or not, his value and our leverage is only going to decline from here.

Have to remember what Wrights focus was coming in and why we kept Voss

Wants to bring in a group of mature depth players, make more room in SC and change culture and standards around the club

Trading Charlie allows us to do a lot of that in one go. Having a pick for Cody now allows us to target players next year without having to trade for another early pick.

IMO the benefits of doing this now far outweigh the negatives
