It's almost popcorn time....

To be fair I think this time is a little bit different.

This time every single person at Essendon - the players, past players, the president, the windy hill media, the women's team - has gone out of their way to take shots at Merrett.

To be fair Jai Newcombes name wasn’t ruled out either.

In the same paragraph that put the 7pm deadline Lewis was also specifically mentioned and a trade with him wasn’t ruled out by Essendon or hawthorn.

Are you willing to say hawks also wouldn’t rule out trading Newcombe too?

If Essendon were planning on using that Pick 9 specifically in another deal (e.g. pick 5 + 9 to get pick 2 from WCE) then it might hurt them.

Who knows. But this is the most interesting thing that's happened for a week so don't complain

can’t really see any of the top 3 picks being availiable and pick 4 isn’t that much better then Essendons first pick so a trade up shouldn’t cost that much.

I’ve always thought a 3rd team needs to get involved for this to all work out as no players are going to want to go to Essendon and hawks don’t want to ditch most of their own picks.

Saw CJ to Dees has just popped up.

If you assume Trac and Merrett have similar value then Suns/Dons/Dees and HHawks make a sensible trading group

Pretty good midfielder is Jai. A full season from Will Day (third times the charm) and the cup is as good as ours.

Will add Walsh next season and have a fair crack at Butters.

I actually don't mind the play by Hawthorn there, I for one am sick of all the big trade stuff being dragged out until the very last day, waste of everyone's time as much as the AFL might like it being delayed until they put stuff on TV. But **** the AFL.

The problem Hawthorn have is they probably don't really want to go the draft with pick 8 - they would rather a ready made player. If this was allowed to drag out until deadline tomorrow then Hawthorn would be stuck. At least this way they can make a play for someone tomorrow. I am sure there are plenty of balls in the air already. It will be interesting what the Hawks do.

Fagan met with both with 0 reports of a meeting during the season. Really not that hard.

Mitchell is shaping up to be about as discrete as Bill Clinton.
