Good luck with that.Hawks are not getting Butters.
Hardwick certainly a people's coach, he will be sympathetic to Humphrey's plight.
Two firsts and a second is a compelling offer, even if they have adequate picks.
WCE are threatening feral behaviour at this year's draft, which every club should be, and the GCS may need huge points to get their boys.
Why, did Merrett decide to stay at the Bombers?Perhaps Mrs Mitchell's bad cooking is to blame?
Did she prepare beef wellington with mushrooms?
Mitch Lewis not handing in a trade request is one of the more mind boggling things in recent memory. The reasons I’m mentioning Lewis name, is because in the same paragraph that announced hawthorns 7pm deadline, it also mentioned Lewis wasn’t ruled out by either club.

I agree but I think De Goey is plan B not Humphreysanyway, no doubt the deadline is there because Hawks have a plan B.
The first sentence is your opinion, and I agree with it.The deal is fair for a 30 year old receiver. It’s probably over to be honest.
But it’s clear that hawthorn are panicking and Mitchell is pushing the club to get the deal done after making promises to Merrett.
Hawks fans have praised Mitchell’s ruthless approach, but seem to hate Essendons ruthless approach in this trade.
Replace HH with Lewis and it’s getting closer.
Because most of us think Mckenzie would be picked in the top 5 of this draftMore I look at it crapper the deal looks and probably means Essendon did the right thing.
To me its no different to the Curnow move. Swans knew a player of good quality had to head the other way and Hawks simply havnt done that.
Im confused as to why Hawks are so desperate to hold on to Cam Mackenzie. Id rather keep pick 9 and send Mackenzie on his way to get the deal done
I agree. Still a very good player that will improve our midfield for the next year or 2. Importantly, a good fit because he is a good user who can receive from our current mids. Why are Hawthorn hellbent on recruiting him then? How is he simultaenously declining and according to Mitchell the type of player they need to push for a flag?
Merrett was top 5 in odds for the Brownlow & regularly spoken about as on track for AA captain before Essendon's injury storm hit. When the injury storm hit he was thrown around everywhere to cover gaps. He was still elite when he was in the midfield.
Going from Reid to Petracca to Merrett to Humphrey only to end up with a washed up De Goey sure would be something.I agree but I think De Goey is plan B not Humphreys
If you’re suggesting that west coast would bid on Uwland and Patterson at 1&2 then that would be a rather dumb decision by the Eagles and I like to think their list management team knows betterWCE are threatening feral behaviour at this year's draft, which every club should be, and the GCS may need huge points to get their boys.
Exactly and 100% right.Because most of us think Mckenzie would be picked in the top 5 of this draft
You lot are a delusional bunchPick 9, Pick 31, 2026 F1 and 2027 F1 and we have a deal. If they want a token 3rd or 4th in return by all means.
“1 Signature”![]()
i agree my opinion. I think Mitchell made a promise to Merrett. Now Mitchell putting pressure on the club to get it done. Hence the over pay offer 24 hours from the deadline. Which only just gave Essendon their starting point of a trade. The first sentence is your opinion, and I agree with it.
All of the bold is your inference/imagination.
What is clear is that Hawthorn are trying to move this along.
Do you really think Hawhtorn made a promise to Merrett that they will pay any price possible to get him over to Hawthorn? Even if it's more than the highest price anyone has ever paid for a 30 year old?
Don't forget Allen.Going from Reid to Petracca to Merrett to Humphrey only to end up with a washed up De Goey sure would be something.
And do you think that promise was they would trade for Merrett regardless of what the price is?i agree my opinion. I think Mitchell made a promise to Merrett. Now Mitchell putting pressure on the club to get it done. Hence the over pay offer 24 hours from the deadline. Which only just gave Essendon their starting point of a trade.
Cope harder lad. This is glorious reading.Firstly, Merrett is not top 20. He didn't even make the AA squad of 44.
Secondly, he's 30 years old and declining. Find me any 30 old traded for more than what was offered for Merrett. Ever. One of if not the biggest trade of all time for a 30+ year old is 'poop' and a 'joke'.
Thirdly, Essendon fans for 300+ pages have been agreeing that a deal less than the one offered was indeed 'overs' and 'ponying' up and therefore something they would take. We added an extra 2nd rounder to the proposed deal and suddenly its poop.
Fourthly, you are also intentionally misrepresenting the actual picks to make them sound worse.
A ****en 22 year old Judd went for 3, 20 and an untried raw forward in Kennedy
"Free Zac Merrett. Let him play with Mackenzie, Free Zach Merrett"![]()
If Lewis decides to go there it will be 9 and lewis...you aint getting anymoreLewis hasn’t been ruled out from
Hawthorn, so 9 f1 f2 Lewis?
Go through the thread, focusing on Essendon posters and see what they've proposed.
Most have said 2x firsts + something else. HirdsTheWord has actually said this about 300 times in the thread.
This offer is 2x firsts + a fringe player + a second rounder.
The media has successfully increased the price of this deal over time to the point where people think the best ever offer for a 30 year old (in history) is nowhere near enough. Absolutely insane how people let footy media shmucks warp their view of trade value.
Sure it's a very good offer but it's not crazy offer Essendon want. It's up to them to decide. Like Suns decided on Humphrey. Hawks can always walk away. That's what happens with contracted players sometimes.I agree. Still a very good player that will improve our midfield for the next year or 2. Importantly, a good fit because he is a good user who can receive from our current mids.
No one is saying he's crap. Just that 2 firsts, a second and a player is obviously not a poop or joke of an offer. It's a very, very good offer for a 30 y.o.
