Or we could all just mention the Hawks offered up the biggest trade bounty in the history of trades for a 30yo.Is Merrett 30 years old? surely someone in this thread would have mentioned it by now...................
Excatly, they just don’t realise it yet. This will backfire spectacularly for Essendon.
No, the real value depends on the value of the available players. Pick 1 this year is clearly not worth what it was in 2023, which has nothing to do with academies. On the night it makes no difference but as trade value it does.
If you had pick 1 this year with academy tied prospects rated 1-10, and traded for pick 1 next year with no top 10 tied academy prospects, one is clearly worth more in the trade.
The “real value” of picks needs to take into account how many academy players are expected before that pick.

Speaking of joyous how much joy have you gotten out of the fact the Hawks have been the most successful club since they joined the competition 100 years ago.Haha no it won't.
We'll suck if we trade him and will continue to do so for a while.
We'll suck if we keep him and will continue to do so for a while.
The only enjoyment out of the sport we have to take is for certain clubs we don't like not succeeding. Collingwood and Hawthorn losing prelims this year was a joyous occasion for us. Hawthorn having to go into next year crossing all fingers that a broken Will Day plays more than 10 games is a win for us.
It is sad. But it's all we've got.
Will this be televised?Zach Merrett to exercise his Money In The Bank option per the AFLPA Players Code and Rights Act of 2025 (Section 3.2)
If a players current club refuses to trade them they have the right to cash in their Money In The Bank once per their career and challenge their Coach to a one versus one hand-to-hand combat match. Should the player win, they have the right to move to a club of their choice.
You might have just set us all up for a genuinely terrifying journey to an alternative reality if they tries to answer your question1. The bids mean nothing as Essendon cannot access those players taken with those picks anyway. It is the most redundant conversation of all trade periods.
2. They can still make moves on their list. They can delist players and bring others in via draft, DFAs and SSP. Their list isnt locked in. The list isnt finalised until post christmas.
3. Giving them pick 9, allows them to make a proper approach to get up in the draft if they want to, or potentially push one of their top 10 picks into next year
Genuine question, how have you landed on them swapping Merrett for Hustwaite.
The amount of capital that Hawthorn offered is worth more than what Brisbane sent to Freo for Neale (25 years old), more than what Richmond gave GWS for Taranto (25 years old) and more than what WCE paid for Kelly (24 years old).
Not sure if that'll play out well for Merrett. Brad may seem unassuming but it's safe to say he likely has a lot of pent up rage.Zach Merrett to exercise his Money In The Bank option per the AFLPA Players Code and Rights Act of 2025 (Section 3.2)

Give us your take on arse sore WCE supporters and other supporters who have been brown nosing Essendon,.brownnosing the hawks is #pathetic

pro's / cons for both situations.
Connected to this on a deeply spiritual levelHaha no it won't.

i think it’s pretty on the nose & they’re still rightfully upset hawks screwed them over last season (noticing a pattern here)! i’ll presume you feel the same way about sycophants supporting your mobGive us your take on arse sore WCE supporters and others who have been brown nosing Essendon, or is that different?
Traded for free and coach fired immediately and banned for life from AFLZach Merrett to exercise his Money In The Bank option per the AFLPA Players Code and Rights Act of 2025 (Section 3.2)

But what about posters who make perfectly good points .i think it’s pretty on the nose & they’re still rightfully upset hawks screwed them over last season (noticing a pattern here)! i’ll presume you feel the same way about sycophants supporting your mob
Wow. That is truly pathetic.
Really strange take.Have you not looked at the state of their list?
How does pick 14(after bids) help Essendon in any meaningful way when all they're really doing is swapping Merrett for Hustwaite?
biggest ever? i doubt it. a plodder who’s been in the system for 3 years and only managed 10 games or whatever isn’t exactly a “great deal”, neither are devalued first round picks and future picks when drafts are compromised as is.But what about posters who make perfectly good points .
Like the neutrals who pointed out the Hawks have offered up the biggest trade bounty ever for a 30yo?
Perhaps you should be more pissed at your own club for being so reckless when you’ve already been told noOr we could all just mention the Hawks offered up the biggest trade bounty in the history of trades for a 30yo.
hawks need to get what they want!!!! it’s so UNFAIR that they’ve continually been told no, they still deserve to get exactly what they want!Perhaps you should be more pissed at your own club for being so reckless when you’ve already been told no
Does this pattern you are noticing include how the idiots running the WCE when given the choice of the Hawks 1st and 2nd round draft picks or the 1st and 2nd of a team that won 2 games out of the last 13 the previous season, they chose the latter?i think it’s pretty on the nose & they’re still rightfully upset hawks screwed them over last season (noticing a pattern here)! i’ll presume you feel the same way about sycophants supporting your mob
