We don’t have to accept or do anything.

But surely you can recognise what Collingwood have done here?

Their passing interest, with absolutely nothing outlayed, has caused a leadership spill within the football club, undermined the current captain, a 2 x B&F winner now starts from square one with the playing group.

I’m sure if the shoe was on the other foot and we did it to * we’d be pissing in each others pockets.

They don’t get a deal done - “oh well”. Jy Simpkin barely moved the needle for them and their offer reflected that.

We don’t get a deal done - “We now need a new captain, we need to address the elephant in the room, need to manage Simpkin all year, will have this narrative follow us all next season” etc etc

How are North a stronger football club following this than 10 days ago? We aren’t.

This had nothing to do with Collingwood . To say they caused a leadership spill is bullshit. Jy did that himself the moment he leaked that he was open for a new club.

But if we shouldn't have accepted that deal, how are we cucks. We didn't let ourselves get rolled. I don't think Collingwood went into this being like oh we can destabilize North. I think far more likely they thought they'd get one over on Brady, sneak go us out of Jy, and somehow underestimated Bradys spinal column.

Jy is the villain I agree. But I don't think this makes us look weak or Collingwood strong or anything like that

Agreed. I don't know how this makes Collingwood look strong. Long bow to draw there.

They expected North to eat the shit sandwich we were offered and we refused.

Sorry explain how North Melbourne were cucks in this situation?

If your captain wants to leave your football club it’s embarrassing.

If your captain wants to leave your football club because Collingwood has simply fluttered their eyelashes at you with nothing concrete and in place, and they still actively want to leave, I’d say that puts as fairly in our place at the moment.

I think this is a positive. We can move past Jy as Captain and if he doesn’t play well then his career will pass him by quickly.

Of course it has 😂

The happy clappers are out again it seems.

It’s not the clubs fault, but how is this anything but another step back?

Our captain has outed himself as not all in with the clubs direction, met with another club, club low balled us, Simpkin gets a very public reality check on his standing in the game, we get the same disgruntled captain (soon to be ex-captain) back with his tail between his legs on an absolutely massive salary?

Not everything is a criticism, it’s a shit situation. Our club are the one who will face the fall out.
Oh the drama! Happy clappers, tail between legs, massive salary, shit situation, ffs, get a grip. Jy isn't happy with the club's direction: so what? He would be a complete goose if he was. Are you?

He is worth way more to us than Collingwood. Trading him out would have weakened us and been based on emotion and nothing else.

I never said it made them look strong, but the fact is they were able to dislodge an AFL captain with simply arm length interest.

Again, how at all are Collingwood the losers in this? There is zero fall out for them, plenty for us.

Yes, I'm sure Collingwood could claim victory by causing a leadership spill at the 16th placed team.

Oh yes, Collingwood end up the losers in all of this 🤣

Of course they did. They thought they could offer well below the odds to pick up a two-time B&F winner and our Captain.

They wanted him to ultimately serve, at least in part, as a replacement for Pendlebury, who turns 38 before the season starts next year. They thought wrong.

Pendlebury, great player that he has been, was struck by that "old man's injury", being a calf injury in the PF and once you start to get those at his age, things begin to get a little clouded.

But Pendlebury is not the only member of Dad's Army at the Pies.

De Goey turns 30 next year, Cox if he gets another contract turns 35, Howe turns 36, Sidebottom 35, Crisp 32, Elliott 33, Mitchell 32, McStay 30, Cameron 30, Membrey 30, Moore 30, Maynard 30.

That's 13 players whose best years are surely past them.

If they had got him, Jy would have been just one of the young kids down there at Gosch's Paddock.

Or is it "Gosh have we got that many pensioners in our Paddock"?

What Collingwood did doesn't sound as sexy to the rest of us because it's actually not. It's a footy club just asking the question and Jy didn't actually specifically say he wanted to be traded to them. Which is why I'm so confused by what you're saying.

Also, the Pies seemed a bit salty by the whole ordeal at the end. Is that just them being slightly interested or just passing interest? They wanted him and we said **** off. In my book, they missed out moreso than the 'damage' it caused us.

I back in our culture to get it right. For once we ****ing stood up for the small clubs as a whole.

*For now.

Or are we forgetting that the F1 trade was conducted on draft night?

Okay, club gave you all the power to act on our behalf, what would you have done?

Brady said this afternoon that Jy wanted to get to Collingwood.

Exactly as they did.

Hence why people being so fast to white knight for the club are very strange.

My criticism is for Jy Simpkin and the situation, not what the club did.

People making this out as a win for the football club is utterly bizarre.

Yes, we held our nerve, which is what we needed to do.

But winners in this situation? LOL.

Simpkins career here is in tatters and we received no compensation for him being relegated from a much respected leader at the club 2 weeks ago, to this present situation.

This outcome is perfect. Alot of inhouse bullshit has been dealt with.

Leppitsch didn't sound to me like a bloke who thought he'd won anything by 'dislodging a captain'

And as for 'arm length', Nick Daicos comes out of it looking like a complete pratt

Only winner there is Richmond.

Everyone else has lost players that would start Rd 1 in their best 22s
