I think this has been a very pleasing result for not just us but the competition

In our case we stood up to an entitled Collingwood and they didn't get their own way. Similarly, without any love to *, I'm very glad they said the same to an equally entitled Hawthorn. To a lesser extent, the Saints said no thanks to Geelong, who I think will rue the fact that they missed out on Marshall.

This may well be the dawn of a new era, where battling clubs hold their ground against the predators and good players on long term contracts, are forced more often to stay with their original clubs.

Look. I kinda just wanted jy to **** off.

But all really good points.

Imagine being the club that had their captains career torpedoed, have same said player for another 4 years on $900k per season.

And received in return???

Well played by Collingwood I’d say, they lose nothing.

Collingwood actually lost a lot. They never got their own way. Brady and our recruiting team just scoffed at them. The pies got told to go and get ******.

Are you okay?

Nobody's career has been torpedoed. Jy wanted to be trade out and failed. He will almost certainly come back to the club and apply himself as before.

Of course it has 😂

The happy clappers are out again it seems.

It’s not the clubs fault, but how is this anything but another step back?

Our captain has outed himself as not all in with the clubs direction, met with another club, club low balled us, Simpkin gets a very public reality check on his standing in the game, we get the same disgruntled captain (soon to be ex-captain) back with his tail between his legs on an absolutely massive salary?

Not everything is a criticism, it’s a shit situation. Our club are the one who will face the fall out.

We did need to make a statement after past failures and hopefully this fuels Jy to have the season we need him to have.

So, you're saying credit to Collingwood for trying to fleece us with some BS second rounder or whatever it was because it was insulting to consider.

But you're not gonna give credit to the club that said 'GAGF' and we will hold our captain accountable with 4 years left on his contract?

Am I missing something here? Why do we have to bend over? Why do we have to get rid of him? What message does that send to the rest of the group? If you don't want to play like a team player we'll make it easy for you to go play at a big club?

**** that. If we are suffering the players should too. Pull your heads in.

So you're saying we should have accepted a future second? Give me a spell pykies

No, people struggle with 1+1 it seems.

We didn’t and shouldn’t have accepted that deal.

At the same time, it’s OK to admit we have been made cucks in this situation. Power play by Collingwood essentially forcing another AFL clubs captaincy change with only a passing low ball interest.

Jy is the villain in all of this.

The cash is really irellevent as we have such an underwheming list we struggle to meet the minimum TPP.

Only lost opertunity is to take a salary dump that could come with picks a la geelong with bowes.

Also, clubs could be holding out on deals with contracted players until Tassie start flinging first round picks that need to be traded for players.

I’d imagine Jye would be the type of players a new club like Tassie would be after… He’d get plenty of midfield time if that’s what he’s after!

Oh yes, Collingwood end up the losers in all of this 🤣
Well, they have no draft picks and a midfield that is entirely dependent on one player, in a side that relies heavily on a few older players not slowing down or getting injured. At the moment they have more to lose by not getting closer to another flag before the window slams shut than North does by treading water.

Just have to wait and see now whether this makes any difference to how Jy performs next year - for better or worse.

But if we shouldn't have accepted that deal, how are we cucks. We didn't let ourselves get rolled. I don't think Collingwood went into this being like oh we can destabilize North. I think far more likely they thought they'd get one over on Brady, sneak go us out of Jy, and somehow underestimated Bradys spinal column.

Jy is the villain I agree. But I don't think this makes us look weak or Collingwood strong or anything like that

We don’t have to accept or do anything.

But surely you can recognise what Collingwood have done here?

Their passing interest, with absolutely nothing outlayed, has caused a leadership spill within the football club, undermined the current captain, a 2 x B&F winner now starts from square one with the playing group.

I’m sure if the shoe was on the other foot and we did it to * we’d be pissing in each others pockets.

They don’t get a deal done - “oh well”. Jy Simpkin barely moved the needle for them and their offer reflected that.

We don’t get a deal done - “We now need a new captain, we need to address the elephant in the room, need to manage Simpkin all year, will have this narrative follow us all next season” etc etc

How are North a stronger football club following this than 10 days ago? We aren’t.

Professional sport has changed considerably. This kind of thing happens in sport globally all the time. People try and isolate the AFL as having its own cultural identity but at the end of day it’s much the same as every other sport. Have a look at Morgan Gibbs White in the premier league or multiple NFL and NBA players that hold out from attending training each year.

Jy will put his head down and get back to work.

Collingwood actually lost a lot. They never got their own way. Brady and our recruiting team just scoffed at them. The pies got told to go and get ******.

Also, If I was a player and I was thinking of moving clubs, that wouldn't be a great image, you would be worried that they might try to sweet talk you but when it came time to get a deal done, what are they going to do, offer a 2nd round future pick... what calibre of player is that going to work with?

Hawks at least put a compelling offer for a 30 year old Merrett. Swans made an offer that Carlton couldn't say no to. What is Collingwood doing and where are they heading? Their list is getting old, they don't have the running power to take on Brisbane and they improved their list.

Collingwood's first pick this year is 39, are they going for glory or rebuilding? I thought they made that call the last couple of years to go hard but they didn't bring in anything to help bridge the gap this year. What are they hoping to do, rebuild when Tasmania comes into the competition? They are going to get pulverised in their first year and they will get a tsunami of charity. The draft will be compromised for years.

I think it is a bad look for them. Oh, you don't rate Simpkin... then why chase him all trade period? Why didn't you chase someone else you do rate to help improve the team immediately? Just weird mixed messaging going on from their camp.

Sorry explain how North Melbourne were cucks in this situation?

Nothing like a dose of public humiliation to make him an infinitely better kick of the football.
We'll settle for better. Jy has a lot of options to kick to with Trembath emerging. Boomer should spend a chunk of the off season teaching Jy to consistently lower his eyes and hit up the best option.

Surely you can see this strengthens the view other clubs have of us at the negotiating table. Brady won't be stood over apparently.

We were completely dogshit this year. Easily one of the bottom teams in the league.

Our sum result of trade week was Charlie Spargo.

Our first pick is 30+

We now face a leadership issue with our leadership group.

Who is the one treading water again?

We probably enter the season with a less stable team than last season and the list virtually exactly the same.
