This thread is becoming increasingly popular, and to keep some sort of order, we will have some….

Rules of engagement:

1. Bring valid news or links to Twitter posts from notable sources. Don’t post screenshots or “some bloke just said on SEN” or what some “trade whisperer” has posted on a Facebook page.

2. Ignore what other team boards are putting up as trade offers. Don’t quote or bring them here either.

3. Don’t post “buckle up” for the lols.

4. If you can’t say anything nice about Worpel or CJ, don’t say anything at all. The continued slaps and backhanders are just going to be deleted.

Ok. He's a quality individual and well liked. Let's ignore his short comings on the field. Let's ignore everyone's short comings on the field and get players because they're "nice blokes"

I didn't say ignore the shortcomings on the field, I'm referring to the cultural hole comment.

I don't usually play the man unless it's something unironically dumb that grumbleguts says, but you're testing me here.

I don't disagree with anything you said, except one key thing, the biggest thing, the Merrett trade. Why did they let it string out to the end, what was the purpose of a so-called deadline, if they weren't prepared to deal with someone else for the haul of picks? This is most definitely not a successful trade period, when the main show falls over.

Oh that is easy, they were f’kn with us! Even when we met their demands they simply upped said demands again.

This is why Merretts manager TP got filthy mad with the bombers. I still reckon they will rue the day they fkd with TP. 🤣

Time to focus on DFA and the 2025 draft. So ready for round one already!

The biggest blunder was thinking that Essendon were going to act any differently. The place is terrible. I knew from the start it wasn't getting done, cause we simply just hate each other too much. And I'm not even worried about losing Worpel and CJ. I implore everyone to remember how bad they were this year. It will now give opportunity for Mackenzie, Hustwaite to step up.

In hindsight, we should have chased harder for Petracca and even Oliver, whose CV's are much more impressive than Merrett and the Dees were having a fire sale. I know Oliver has his problems, but 3rd round pick? That is criminal. Even if he just has 1 good year for wanting to get back at the Dees, it would have been worth it.
Don’t know how many times it has to be said

Petracca wanted an extra year at 1.4m, we weren’t will, and rightly so

Oliver , please, guy is that ****ed up he has had to leave the state, he wasn’t going to stay in Melbourne , he wouldn’t have made it through this offseason

What happened to the storyline of Essendon looking to deal with West Coast to trade up to pick 1? Did West Coast not come to the party? Would that have got it across the line?
I think you have your answer right there.

Story: an account of imaginary or real people and events told for entertainment.

No bigger Clarko Crew mouthpiece than Hawk Talk Podcast

Pathetic

Roos improved their list by adding Spargo. Im not sure whether the Roos would be happy. No 1st round picks too.

For a 2.5 week period (FA and trades) there were 4 interesting moves?

Allen and Draper.
Petracca and Curnow.

Of the top half of the competition, only the QLD clubs did well. The AFL really needs GCS to do well but they keep on giving to Brisbane.

Go look at his CV. He was top 5 in the league at one stage. He will dominate next year, purely with having a chip on his shoulder. Fair enough about Trac.

Anyway, I actually don't care that much. Quite happy to give guys like Mackenzie and Hustwaite a go and with a fit Will Day back, we should be right.

Maginness can fill the void if required in the middle.

It’s exciting really as it’s time for Ward, Mackenzie, Butler, MacDonald.C to stand up.
No he can't, not if we plan on being a genuine contender.

I actually hope that it's forever in regards to Merrett.

No chance the club wants to go through this again in 12 months time.

Will hopefully focus our energy on other A grade talent out of contract, or who need a fresh start.
No way we go back again next year, he will be 31 wont be worth it.

Petracca wanted that only after he ruled hawks out and was down to 2 interstate clubs.

We had Petracca until we shifted to Merrett. Like you, many spent ages saying we could get both. You spent plenty of time on the main board Petracca thread saying as such.

Clearly Trac and his team knew we couldn't get both deals done and were right to walk away. We couldn't get 1 done using most of our assets.

But in the end, even 4 years at 1.5 was too much for Trac. No issues we didn't get him.

At one stage
Not any more, and nowhere near it
Oliver in an overlap run system, yuck

Correct I did

Until the 5th year option came, then no thanks

Cheers for watching me though
