Think it would help if we first developed a culture of winning and mongrel first then the fan base will follow. Collingwood fans expect to respond or come back and lift their noise based on history not hope.

Maybe one helps the other. If as supporters we can engender a positive, empowering environment we help in developing a winning culture.

Let’s face it - what we are doing now doesn’t seem to working and potentially lost us a star player.

Good point. He is privy to any issue Charlie had with Carlton. It would be negligent to send 2 of his other clients there. That tells us the issue wasn't Carlton.

I think you are stretching the logic there. Florent and Hayward aren’t flamboyant, highly paid full forwards subject to the type of abuse Charlie would have been.

Hopefully it works out with Vossy. If it doesn’t it’s set up perfectly for Horse to take over with the Sydney influence we currently have (players and staff) the youth we have, the draft capital we have and cap space.

As well as Graham Wright and Chris Davies running the club we are now an attractive and desirable destination whether we go with the experienced and proven (Horse) or the new upcoming assistant.

I reckon the deal was done ages in advance. But the AFL told us and the swans to hold off until the last minute, and GC17 were so pissed off at the AFL stage managing that they left and the Humphrey deal fell through.

You know what would be a cool thing that the AFL could introduce for the National Draft, live trading an established player for the picks you need if you have an academy or f/s player. That would be the ideal way for us to get Humphrey and pick 15 for picks 9 and 11.

Sydney ITK said the same thing. He was under the impression the deal was done the day before and all this bullshit was concocted drama

Interesting theme that's come up this week about the Carlton fanbase (that's us, but the way).

Charlie's manager noted it's a very tough club to play for when you're not playing well.

Hayward mentioned in his intro video the passionate fans.

Silvagni and TDK both choosing to go elsewhere (the Saints no less!).

I think reading between the lines, here, we're dead-set lunatics and maybe there's something for us to take on board.

Article about Ian Nicoll.

key quote

Ian knew deep-down that his League career was over. “I was physically and mentally worn out. To be truthful, I never came to terms with all the glamour, the publicity and worst of all, the fickle supporters.”

I cannot find it right now, but there is at least one other past player who mentioned that the main reason they retired from football was the fickle supporters.

If you read player profiles from the early 1980s one of the standard questions was 'what do you dislike the most', good proportion of the answers across the board was fickle supporters.

People do not realise that the supporter base has a big effect on the players, both positive and negative.

The boy has an entire wall of Charlie posters etc to deal with, and an entire shrine dedicated to Jack.

It's going to be expensive to re-model.
Take some photos and tag the players on instagram- they both have fat new contracts they can chip in 🤣

I laughed 😅 when john ralphy called tyson Gresham tyson stengle 😒 🤔

But if it was all just theatre, why did we miss out on the Buku trade with not enough time to complete with Charlie trade being priority and ending last minute (as stated by Chris Davies)?

I believe someone said, maybe Soapy V, that the Bulldogs kept changing the deal right up to the last minute :thumbsu:

Ha, yes, that was a common dislike.
Steak & chips + beer were some of the favourites

806 on the new scale.

34 - 360
41 - 220
43 - 184
53 - 28
54 - 14

With the 10% discount, the bid would have to be Pick 17.
You need to factor in the picks disappearing due to Uwland, Patterson, and Annable bids, which probably moves everything up 8 spots at the back, a little less for the higher picks.
So:

30 - 454
36 - 317
38 - 277
45 - 150
46 - 134
50 - 71

That's 1403 points which pays for pick 7.

But we'd max out at 5 further delistings, and that's pulling a few tricks to do that. A more realistic number is 4 for a total of 6 selections at the start of the night, but that's still 1330 points based on this estimate. I still think that realistically covers Dean and Ison.

If Brisbane and Gold Coast trade back further move picks in the teens into pairs of in the 20s, that can continue to help us as well.

EDIT: Ok so apparently we can't take back 41 anyway, so that probably solves the cost issue for the trade, but also knocks things back down to 1086 points alongside pick 2, which covers pick 11.

Hi all. I will apologise in advance if this question has been asked and or answered in the last 17,000 pages. But what is happening with the assistant coaches? We had an impressive list of candidates we were/are chasing but never really heard how it all played out.
Who did we and didn’t we get?

Essentially we are set for assistant coaches although other associated roles (especially development coaches) maybe added over the next month or so.

If they’re physically strong enough and good enough then yeah
100% this, I'm not keen on throwing underprepared and undersized kids to the wolves, especially in KPP positions. We've burned plenty of our young talent this way in the past.

Didn't this age well after they missed out on both TDK and Marshall....although they did manage to complete that massive deal with the Tiggs that got them pick 99.

To Andrew Mackie, the new Dodoro, we salute.....

Cats missing out on Marshall was weird! Position of desperate need and could have easily got the deal done. Not sure they can be criticised for not getting Charlie though. I would t have traded their good young players for him either, and after that they didn’t have enough.

I honestly don’t get into the Soap Opera of footy any more.

However, that little bloke jumping around in front of the Hawthorn guys yesterday.

Good heavens, who was that angry, slightly overweight, sweating, coked out, bald Geffen goblin, pointing his little finger.

When he tucked in his back pack & stomped his little tiny feet.

I just wanted to pat him.
