I have a strong feeling that the push for Hinkley to come in isn’t for Scott, but for the next person in the job.
He really has this year to sort it all out.

That injury broke my spirit. Was enjoying watching the kids play prior to that thinking it would hold us in good stead for 26, but then to know marto won't be there for most of it is a tough pill to swallowMartin missing likely half the year is a significant millstone around our necks also.
Come for the Brad Scott news.Martin missing likely half the year is a significant millstone around our necks also.

Significant . Probably a bit strong.
I would not argue that if we can keep Reid/Ridley/McKay/Parish/Langford fit and all playing 20 plus games we will be a better side.
But that is where we are at. If we can get the injury prone blokes fit. If a number of the young players take another step.
Such an utterly bullshit way for it to occur too. Hope you’re sleeping well Mansell. That injury broke my spirit. Was enjoying watching the kids play prior to that thinking it would hold us in good stead for 26, but then to know marto won't be there for most of it is a tough pill to swallow
Oh I'm agreement. I'm not saying that his issues are actual issues or valid even. I think this is the first time in a long time since the Barham/Vozzo/Scott era came in that i have a degree of trust in the club. But nevertheless, it would be irresponsible to not listen to Zach. Even if we aren't improving things specifically for him, maybe there are things that can be tweaked.I dunno, maybe Im being naive but for me if you ignore the win/losses and injury carnage (which was completely outside of Scotts control) I think this is the first time in over decade we actually have set out a proper plan with mature and professional people at the helm in vozzo and rosa. Im neither here nor there on Scott as a match day coach/selector but I do think he is a good coach to guide us through a proper rebuild because he is senior enough/tough enough to shield the group from the media spotlight/fans when the losses pile up.
Thats the part that really pissed me off with Zach's actions, he has been through much worse sagas at essendon, Scott entrusted him with the captaincy and believed that the two of them could really course correct this club. We finally seem to be breaking away from the sheedy/hird/dodoro era and then Zach almost blew it all up.
He knew it was a long term plan last year when he signed a contract extension, we didnt chase any big names, got rid of our one game breaker and brought in a slew of young kids. Instead of sticking fat with a coach that backed him he decided to throw his coach and teammates to the wolves this year to chase his own selfish needs.
That's what I've Hird as well.I have a strong feeling that the push for Hinkley to come in isn’t for Scott, but for the next person in the job.

Well step number 1 is getting the players on the field. No club ever has any semblance of a game plan when 5 or 6 of their best 23 are in the stands.... and if we have constant pressure on the opposition, good ball movement, organised team defence and an unselfish forward line that works for each other. This is something that a good coach can instil into any team, no matter what their talent levels are (assuming they are base AFL level fit and skilled).
Obviously, no one is talking flags, but if we don't see a game plan that players can come in and thrive in, which gives them confidence and allows them to develop through success then Brad's the man. If not, this should be his last year.
I doubt our team will have pushed the needle farSo what is the deal with the soft cap? Like what roles fall under that? All staff roles?
For example do the social media team come under soft cap?
I doubt it would fly but I do not really know.Basically what I am asking is if we could hire somebody like Burgess as a website designer and then have him help out at training.
I doubt it would fly but I do not really know.
You can get someone in the VFL to play and give them a part time role as far as coaching so I guess there is no reason why not but It would have to be very clear that they where part time on the coaching side and the other job was 100% legit.

Just like Bailey Smith at Cotton on![]()
Yes. Everything football except players is inside the soft cap.Do coaching staff come under the soft cap?
