Im not disagreeing with the probability side of things. Given what we know the odds were certainly not in his favour. That doesnt mean we know for sure it was the right call. It highly probably was.I think we can say with a fairly high degree of confidence that it's the correct call because we have all seen, at our own club and others, what happens when old guys become plagued by injury and then continue to try to play on. Doesn't end well. Body is broken down, and even if it wasn't, he's old and has missed a heap of footy. The likelihood he would be able to return in 2026 and contribute in some significant way would be very, very slim.
Had a good career, won a flag and a couple of B&Fs. He should be very proud, but when it's time, it's time.
