We’re probably due for a bid on Sweid, how about we just take it that North bids on him here?
Too late

With pick 25, Essendon select

Harley Barker 188cm Outside Midfielder Sturt

Harley had a great Championship and showed how dangerous he can be on all three lines.

His best was on the wing where he made the most of his pace as well as his power, transition game and a strong work rate. Runs all day.

He did his ACL so he slid. I had him down about 10 picks earlier prior to the injury and very glad he slid

Carbine Chaos - the Crows are up with one of the picks that should have gone to the Lions!!!

I’ll take Archie Moses suggestion and make the North picks

Will need an hour to do so

Won’t change Asterix’s pick though

I have just finished talking with Keys and he asked me to put up his selections for Norf.

Pick 23 - Archie Ludowycke - KPF/Ruck 197cm Sandringham

SNAPSHOT: “An athletic, high-marking tall forward capable of soaring for speccies and kicking big bags of goals.” – Michael Alvaro

Archie Ludowyke is the type of player who produces moments which stick in the minds of onlookers. His memorable moment came during the Under 16 National Championships, where he soared for a massive speccy during the carnival he earned All-Australian honours for. He was the full forward of a Vic Metro side which won the Pool A title undefeated, skippered by Sandringham teammate Jack Dalton.

The platform was set for Ludowyke to build off, and he had a promising bottom-age campaign despite his own assessment. The 197cm goalkicker broke through to make his Vic Metro Under 18 debut in 2024 and booted 13 goals in nine Coates Talent League appearances with Sandringham. Ludowyke also helped Brighton Grammar take out the APS title, kicking 22 goals during the school football season.

Though, he missed out on the Dragons’ premiership glory having battled with his form and an untimely coccyx injury. The late-season portion of last year was somewhat of a rollercoaster for Ludowyke, who just a week later took the field on AFL Grand Final day for the National Under 17 Futures game. He kicked the match-winning goal for his side to finish his year on a high, despite the challenges faced.

Ludowyke then entered his top-age year as one of the draft’s most exciting key forwards. He was inducted into the National Academy and kicked three goals in their game against Richmond VFL, standing out among a relatively tall forward crop. That performance came shortly after a five-goal effort against eventual Coates Talent League premier Eastern, with Ludowyke growing in confidence along the way.

He was looking forward to showing his wares once again on the representative stage and managed two full games for Vic Metro. Unfortunately his carnival and year were cut short in game three against the Allies, where Ludowyke endured a couple of heavy knocks and ended up sustaining a PCL injury. He was invited to the National Draft Combine but remained sidelined, although would have been a lively participant.

Pick 24 - Hibbins Hargreaves - medium forward 186cm Dandenong
SNAPSHOT: “A developing utility who harnesses his star factor to step up in big moments with his important goals.” – Michael Alvaro

Few can lay claim to being as clutch as Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves. The Dandenong Stingrays prospect possesses obvious class and has been able to showcase it in glimpses this year amid several injury setbacks. He has long been on the radar, too, having made his Coates Talent League debut as a 15-year-old in 2023, fresh off representing Vic Country at the Under 16 National Championships.

As a bottom-ager in 2024, he made 16 appearances for Dandenong. That was the year he established himself as a man for the big moments, with 11 of his 23 goals coming in fourth quarters – including a game-winner against Bendigo. He also broke through for a berth at the Under 18 National Championships, travelling over to Western Australia and going on to be selected in the National Under 17 Futures squad.

On the back of a stellar bottom-age campaign, Hibbins-Hargreaves followed through with induction into the AFL Academy for 2025. He was also named co-captain of the Stingrays, and while he did not participate in preseason testing after having injections in his calf, recovered in time for Round 1. A sprain in the AC joint of his shoulder soon after kept him out of those two Academy games, signalling an early setback.

Once back in action, Hibbins-Hargreaves produced moments of magic at the National Championships, including four goals to almost drag Vic Country over the line against Western Australia. Although, another setback came his way in the form of a concussion suffered in the final game of the carnival, against Vic Metro. It meant he missed out on a possible VFL debut with Richmond.

Upon returning to Dandenong’s setup, he got to showcase his evolving midfield craft and was selected in the Coates Talent League Team of the Year.

I’m slightly surprised it’s not 2 KPP in Ludowyke and Emmett for North
I did talk to Keys about Emmett and I would have taken him ahead of Ludowycke since Emmett can play back or forward.

I was reluctant to take both as they took Whitlock who can play They also have Wil Dawson who looks a decent KPD.

NHH was a good value pick as well as an insurance policy since the Drug Rats will be again circling Zane wanting to collect the set.

Very tempted to go a bid or two here, but with Rankine playing in the middle I think Adelaide really need better small forward depth.

Adelaide select Latrelle Sumner-Pickett, livewire who lit up the SANFL Ressies this year and even the league level on a few occasions. Get the sense he'll be better the higher level he goes.

rebel23 you're up.

Just don’t pick the fella I want 😉
Clearly you missed the most important part of the message

I think common sense has prevailed in the Swans draft room.

Apologies for the time taken to use this pick...the main reason for this was that Coxy was throwing up names from the previous years draft as well as next years draft.. am not quite sure he knows what's going on!

With the 27th pick of the 2026 AFL draft the Sydney Swans select their academy prospect Max King!

Bloody Hell AsterixTheGaul is cleaning up this draft for Essendon ... What a haul this so far.

Schubert
Cumming
O Taylor
Barker

Excellent work. 9/10

One of the reasons 5+6 >> 2+13

Bombers would be silly to trade up to 2

I did trade up to the Suns pick 15. Essendon have an end R1 and 2xR2 picks. I used some to improve my position for an earlier R1 pick knowing I had enough for reasonable NGA bids.

I think I have covered their need for a tall to partner Caddy, speed on differing lines and a top end goal kicking midfielder.

Plus I get to take 2 small forward NGA’s with points or take a deficit into 2026. I was prepared to not match a silly NGA early bid and we are pretty good with small forwards having taken Kako last year and 2 this year.

It tells me that West Coast will be in a good position with 34+41 to get picks off clubs holding like Lions and Suns with late R1 picks looking for points. The new points squeeze will be felt.

Why did you select your own academy product before a bid. Couldn't you just match him with your next pick?

Was under the impression that my pick 46 (the only one i had left in this draft) wouldn't be enough to cover it if King was bid on in the next couple of picks.... which I assume is his range.

It didn't help that Dean Cox was screaming and carrying on in the background.

I can use that later pick for a slider now
