Quick Links

List Changes - 2025
In:
  • Brandon Starcevich arrives at West Coast in a three team deal
  • Tylar Young (Richmond) arrived at West Coast in exchange for Pick 38.
  • Deven Robertson (Brisbane) has agreed to join West Coast and will be signed on to the rookie list after being delisted by Brisbane
Out:
  • Oscar Allen joins Brisbane as a FA - West Coast receive Pick 2 as compensation
  • Liam Ryan and a 2027 R3 pick has been traded to St Kilda for a 2026 R2 pick
  • Campbell Chesser has been traded to Carlton for Pick 41
  • Jayden Hunt announces retirement
  • Jack Petruccelle, Callum Jamieson and Loch Rawlinson not offered new contracts
  • Coen Livingstone joins the list of players not offered a new contract

Players Out of Contract - 2025 (0)

2025 Draft Order

Current Draft Picks:
Round 1: 1, 2, 13
Round 2: 34, 41
Round 3: 53, 58 (These picks are in excess of available list spots so will be forfeited if we don’t consolidate our 2025 picks up the order or trade some for future picks)

List Spots Available (39 of 48):
• Main list (33 of 38) - 5* (in: Starcevich, Young out: Allen, Ryan, Chesser, Hunt, Petruccelle, Jamieson)
• Cat A rookie list (5 of 8) - 3* (in: Robertson (pending), out: Rawlinson)
• Cat B rookie list (1 of 2) - 2 (out: Livingstone)

* Based on Dewar being upgraded after the maximum 3 years on the rookie list. Hutchinson may also have been upgraded but this isn’t confirmed - if it is we will have 4 main and 4 rookie list spots open

* Matthew Clarke has stated we have 5 main list spots

Matt Clarke wraps up the trade period - 6PR

If we end up taking CDT in the draft then we probably want to get on the front foot and trade out BW next year. I expect club's will be stingier about trading out picks in 2027 and 2028 in the compromised drafts. It will be hard to get value trading players for picks. So maybe look to trade him out next year.

It seems inconceivable but Bailey Williams is a free agent next year so we won’t be in any position to negotiate a trade

We either sign him to a new contract or take what ever FA compensation comes our way should another club offer him something better

He will be a FA. We should give him a one off bump on his contract to get him into top 25%.

Edit: as per Keys above

I didn't think he was that old.

I am sure if we take CDT he will read the tea leaves and look around for other offers.

Impressive kid. Eagles should have no qualms calling his name out first on draft night.

Certainly sounds quite mature already. Doesn't seem like he'll have any issues moving. Sounded sick of being asked the question.

I liked how he highlighted Dean's traits he liked the most, being his work rate, competitiveness and how he puts his body on the line. Should quieten down those who seem to think he's soft, I reckon.

Willem already towing the club line on Dean to get Carlton to trade Pick 9 is impressive

I wonder if WC would consider trading pick 2 for an early 1st round pick and a future 1st.
If we could get maybe Sharp or Cummings and gain an extra future 1st that would be a great outcome.
The only teams you’d probably have any interest in doing this with are Richmond and Essendon, probably Melbourne and MAYBE Carlton. Once you get down to Hawthorn there are two issues, one being that there’s a pretty high risk of Sharp/Cummings being gone and also their pick next year is likely to be in the late teens or 20s.

Given that Essendon, Richmond and Melbourne are likely to be bad next year (Carlton too) and the general thinking is that the next few non-Academy prospects after Duursma are on fairly even footing, I think it’s pretty unlikely that one of those clubs will piss away next year’s first rounder. Can always hope that someone falls super in love with a player and pulls a Norf though.

Players we target with those extra rookie spots should fit 3 criteria. Will make the WAFL side more competitive, be a good player to help the kids develop, potentially have a future at AFL level.

Mitchell is a big tick for the first two, an even bigger cross for the last.

Massive swerve for me.

If we have 5 main list spots and taking 4, and 4 rookies. How about cutting Livingstone and Barnett also?.
Does that make it 10?
1. Duursma. Pretty good.
2. Robey. Reminds me a little of Hewitt. He speaks well good in interviews, and is not short on confidence. Can't not be a star.
3. Dovaston. - Best small forward.
Plus academy players and father n' son
4. Banfield
5. Williams
6. Evans
7. Walley
Delisted players
8. Mitchell - 2 years - Gap filler - If fit or injured he can educate the lads with high standards, and help us get first ball.
He could be a good incredible back up if Yeo decides to take another year off.
9. Shoenberg - 2 years
10. A TALL Ruck like a Mate Colina - standing at around 9ft tall, or if he is too injured, someone like him who is ready made. Who dosen''t want a Mate for a mate?.

If not a TALL ruck then someone who can kick.
I just watched some highlights of Jaxon Binns. He looks like a really good kick and decision maker.

With my list management plan, I expect to be in the top 16 next year. Top 12-14 the year after. Then a reign of terror on their foes for the years that follow.

These ramblings are just like my opinion man, positive or negative criticisms appreciated. Prove me wrong!

If Yeo is fit enough, I'd still want him in the middle. Harley and the other mids just need that hardned body in there. TK just doesn't do that and Grahams purely defensive

We need as many rock-hard and seasoned bodies we can.

Sometimes injuries are just some bad luck though.

We know the club wanted to split one of the picks. Clarke saying the club now intends to use both picks will be because they now don't expect to get a decent offer to split. There are only one or two clubs who have the draft capital to offer and both of them must have said No.

We don’t know that at all, Clarke and Pyke both said that we’ll listen to offers and you never say no, but it’s unlikely we’ll move them.

The Afl can take the rookie list spots off us at anytime. If we get two good years out of him where we are starting to push up the ladder towards the 8 and we lose a couple of list spots it’s a win

He's been injured for the best part of 2 years. What indication is there that'll improve at his age?

I completely agree with the 3 criteria you mention but disagree slightly with your conclusion.
1) someone like Mitchell "could" have a future (even limited) in WC's senior team in the short term (say 2 years) - which given their lack of midfield depth at present, could prove useful.
2) WC will have the best part of 50 players on their list for a few years going forward. "Burning" a spot on a player who the club believes would add value "outside" of on field performance, might be seen as worthwhile.

Thats not to say Mitchell is that person. And TBH - given McWalters apparent penchant for leg speed, I doubt Mitchell would get a guernsey, but I think he would add something to the club
