The issue with most scanners they are easily "manipulated" by water.....try it next time without drinking water (for a safe period of time) ....even dexa scans can be fooled by water content in the muscles and give a lower BF reading.

Measuring skin folds with calipers by the same person who is experienced is often the best way to do it.
My water was sound though. Clearly not 24%bf. Bodybuilder confirmed.

Time under tension is insane. 28kg ultra slow db bench 4 reps with long pause to the last bit of effort. Gelt every range of the motion.

You could do a scan, drink litres of water then lay down for an hour and redo the scan it will be a higher reading due to the extra water.....in DEXA scans this could show up as extra lean muscle. Again these readings can be easily manipulated.

Putting a real focus into rate of force development work recently, with my 1RM lifts relatively high. Desperately need to get an open trap bar.

Aiming to lose 2.5kg (down from 77kg), maintain 1RM, and improve Olympic lifts.

Worst lower back pain I’ve ever had since Sunday. Bent down to pat the dog and it just flared up.

Taking panadeine forte and celebrex as prescribed by the doctor.

If it doesn’t ease up by the end of the week, I’m getting a CT scan.

Hurts to sit, stand, walk, and the sharp shooting pain I have radiates down my right leg and glutes.
Go see a good physio. I had lower back issues for years until I found a good physio. Dry needle and exercise with a Swiss ball worked for me. I've still got to be careful but my back is 200% better/stronger these days.

Saw someone using wrist straps on the Smith machine for bench press today. That was a new one.

Haven’t lifted in about three weeks.

I’ve got minor disc bulges at the bottom two levels of my spine (L4/5 and L5/S1).

The disc is a little “pushed out” but not herniated. It isn’t pressing on the nerves or spinal cord.

Apparently, lots of people have disc bulges without symptoms, but in my case the flare-up is what made it painful.

I’ve been taking Celebrex and was taking Panadeine Forte. Off Forte and on to Panadol Rapid.

I think I’m adapting to the medication, though, because last week I was almost pain free but I’m worse this week.

Not sure if I’ve done something to aggravate it, but I’ve only been walking and doing the recumbent bike for now.

Got a whole new return workout plan lined up that I like, of course I’ll proceed with caution.

Apparently I should absolutely not train while I’m still in pain though, at least not barbell, dumbbell or trap bar work. That will just aggravate the nerve more and put me out of work.

Still got plenty of sick days and what not but I try not to use them unless I feel I have to.

Check out Layne Norton, smart guy, fairly reputable lifter and has dealt with his fair share of injuries in particular back injuries, might be some things he has done that could help guide you.

Sounds like a classic case of sciatica

Rest is the main thing that'll help

Hope last few weeks it has improved

I've had L4-5/S1 issues for around 15 years, just gotta rest while it's in an inflamed state

Maybe have some turmeric or something for the inflammation? Go to the pool too. I probably wouldn't even ride the bike in your current state.

Sitting was no good for me when the back was no good, preferred to lie down on a firm surface, elevate my legs etc.

Normally took anywhere between 2-5 weeks for the pain/sciatica to go away, though I was taking Naproxen for it alot.

Coming back from another knee surgery this year (minor non-structural) after an ACL reconstruction and meniscus debridement in 2023. Not actually a footy player but a volleyball one, and golly it only gets harder and harder. At the ripe age of almost 21 I find myself struggling with pressure pain in my knees in a full-depth squat. Have resorted to explosive half squats, trap bar deads, power cleans etc.

Anyone got any advice for relieving chronic knee pain? Giving the reverse incline treadmill a go lately, supposedly helps.

Think I'm going to pretty much ditch the the row machine I've used for years and only go with cable rows at the gym. I mean its OK but it just think the lack of freedom with the movement is not the best. When Ive used the cable machine a lot recently you can really connect with the back muscles way better when you can move more freely. And had noticeable strength gains in an area I've struggled in a bit.

And go back to using 1 arm db rows with lighter weight.
