Of course the club deserves credit for AFLW success in exactly the same way they deserve pelting for AFL misery. We might weight them differently but in doing so we have to acknowledge our own potential gender and historical biases (AFLW is still in its infancy).

In your opinion what are the clubs great achievements?

Crowds, viewership.. A huge majority doesn’t give a shit. Theres about 25 people on here that do.
Yeah but we're loud, obnoxious and make it seem like four times that number

Well at least we have gone from no one to 25 in one post.
What are the things to hang your hat on? What has this club done thats made you proud?

You ask for everyones opinion when you dont agree?

Things people are satisfied with:
  • Financial position (albeit we make no coin and membership for GA + was down)
  • Social Justice Warrior sponsorship and obsolete cabs
  • DEI
  • Stability
  • Kookaburra

What else is there?

When I retire early in 7 months we plan to come home from London to Melbourne (more or less exactly 75 years after my Mum’s family first moved from Liverpool to Melbourne). My son plans to stay in London (promising career) but my daughter currently intends to come back with us as she has postgraduate study lined up at UniMelb. She has already said she will come with me to games providing I go with her to the AFLW games. Looking at securing and growing our fanbase for future generations the AFLW matters more than some on here seem to get or at least want to admit. It does not make up for the AFL struggles but it isn’t nothing.

People think I dont want women playing football. Thats not my point, my point is the W was rushed and was never grown organically. Therefore you have half a comp that couldn’t do a lap of the tan, cant kick, cant handball and can barely catch a football. Irish players are more talented than Australian players. Crowd numbers are already declining, viewership is declining, how many people would attend if they charged entry for kids?

They should have had state (televised) stand alone games, growing organically as curtain raisers or gap/bridging games on FTA, not just dump an 18 team comp where the standard is terrible, not all clubs take the comp seriously, the fixture is worse than the AFL and its just burning hundreds of millions of dollars. The money is better spent growing it from grass roots.

Thats my point. Its really difficult to watch, its horrendous when the cant actually bounce a football on the plod. Its a bit of an embarrassment to professional womens sport in general to be perfectly honest

They didn’t “dump an 18 team comp” it started as an 8 team competition. You’ve changed the story to suit your narrative.

Crows have just delisted Scott Welsh son with the promise they’ll re rookie

Is that so..Would be interesting to know how many posters have the same view as your and don't give a crap about the AFLW.

I don't give a shit about it personally but it does add value to our club. I do get fired up when anyone suggests our AFLW program shows that we can be successful in the M program.

Collingwood surprised me with how they make finals in the M, but can't win a game in the W. The truth is they don't give many ****s about the W. And we have seen this as a great opportunity to taste some success.

The day the big clubs are top 4 in W and we're near the bottom, is the day W arrives as a fair dinkum comp
