Zach Bates unlucky not to have a Supercars drive next year, but Gray deserves his spot.

Hopefully Bates will be signed for one of the 2 remaining seats at Matt Stone Racing and Blanchard Racing.
He'll be at MSR almost certainly.

TBH Im not quite as pumped about him as others are. He was VERY lucky to win Super2 last year after Kai imploded, and it'll be interesting to see what GM are like without T8 holding everyone's hand.

Absolutely deserves a spot, but id argue Lachie Dalton and Jarryd Hughes are equally so.

Seems that way.

Hey I enjoyed GC and what the finals brought. So def giving it time
I think the 3 tracks they've chosen arent bad for the finals. Each brings something a little different.

GC is so risky, Sandown is traditionally a Camaro track, Adelaide is a Mustang/Mostert circuit.

Could be anyone's game

NASCAR fans imploding online with the results today and Playoffs/Finals are the target.

Wonder if the same will happen after Adelaide.
What’s the cause of the imploding? The championship isn’t decided until tomorrow?

Xfinity race that just happened. The guy that had won 10 races did not win the championship.

For instance

Yeah that’s not ideal. Although I guess this is the whole point of the playoff idea.

Also, that tweet is a well known viral copy/paste any time any sporting side/player shits the bed haha.

Some of the big old school names arent fans of the play-off system and never have been. King Petty, Rusty Wallace, the Waltrips etc.

Its been in a bit more focus this year with SVG being nowhere in the points yet made the play-offs because he could turn right. Finishing the season a bit better on the ovals mind you.

To me their play off system is too long and convoluted, I think I read somewhere that in the 20 odd years its been around, the guy who would have won in the old system didnt win the title.

There's a chance we'll see it this year in Supercars too, though I still think Fenney wins it. No doubt down the track it'll happen

NASCAR fully reset the points for the final race and have a single race. Supercars won’t fully reset as far as I’m aware and have 3 races at the final event.
Supercars reset the points at the start of every event, for the drivers who remain in the finals.

Supercars also apply bonus points after the points reset. I have no idea how the NASCAR finals system works (I don't follow NASCAR at all, beyond hearing that SVG has dominated the street races to an unprecedented degree), so I can't make a valid comparison.

For reference, here are the Supercars points after the GC 500:
3451 - Feeney
3357 - Mostert
3333 - Payne
3302 - Waters
3287 - Brown
3247 - Allen
3207 - Randle

Here's what they will start with at Sandown:
4150 - Feeney
4120 - Mostert
4096 - Payne
4078 - Waters
4066 - Brown
4057 - Allen
4048 - Randle

A similar points reset (and bonus points) awaits before the Grand Final in Adelaide.

Yeah that’s what I’m saying, they are not all on 4000 points and the final 4 won’t be on 5000 points going into Adelaide with only one race to decide things, like NASCAR do with their Grand Final.

Cool. I wasn't aware of how the NASCAR finals series works. Not having bonus points, making all finalists start on equal points, would really suck.

I quite like the fact that Feeney starts with a 30 point buffer over the other finalists, having completely dominated the Sprint Cup rounds. This means that he would still win the GF if he finishes 2nd in both races. It's not a massive advantage, but it's still a significant one, which is what you really want.

Yeah youve gotta get some sort of advantage for winning the Sprint Cup.

Same for the 2 Enduros.
He got 25 bonus points for winning the Sprint Cup, but that was only for the Gold Coast final.

The only bonus points applicable at Sandown & Adelaide are for the driver standings at the end of the previous round. Feeney finished 1st and receives 150 bonus points, Mostert is 2nd after Gold Coast and receives 120 bonus points, and so forth down to Randle who receives 48 bonus points for being 7th after Gold Coast.

Denny Hamlin just got royally screwed in the Championship just then.

Idiotic call by his pit crew but Nascar and there 'Overtime' rules are just crazy.
Win's it with 2 tires, madness taking 4. Gutted for Hamlin.

Are these the only drivers racing at Sandown?

Interesting stats about the 2026 Supercars driver group...

The departures of Davison, Percat, Courtney and Stanaway will result in the group having an average age of 27 yrs 117 days - which is 2 years younger than the previous youngest group, set back in 2008.

Chaz Mostert, who will be 33 at the start of the 2026 season, will be the 2nd oldest driver on the grid. Only Reynolds (40yo) will be older.

So it appears no real change to the GM racing platform.

I mean not that it’s a concern. Love the Supercar Camero. Looks a beast.

Toyota still using Supra so guess it truly is more about the brand.
