Sane type of player I believe

Honestly he is nothing like Curtin.

Curtin is a genuine KPP/Ruck, Marsh is a mobile 3rd tall forward type....Tom Lynch (Crows) perhaps but a better athlete.

That is only a good thing if we find a 6+ clearance mid to feed Rankine. Otherwise, Ranks becomes our main clearance guy.

Curtin has played Key Defence and Key Forward plenty, played Key Defence at last year's Nationals, played Key Forward at this year's Nationals while chopping out in ruck;

One is a 200cm 100kg monster, the other a 190cm 85kg athlete.

Anything's possible, he did test surprisingly well in the endurance testing for a big lump of a lad which is obviously an assett for a ruckman.

Looking at Cody I think he might be closer to 110kg by now. He weighed in at 100kg before his draft year started (and before they stopped listing player weights on most sites). And he looked even bigger in those GF highlights.

Not a problem for Cody did a 6.24 at the Combine after doinf a 6.15 earlier in the year, he ain't quick but endurance is not a problem in any way.

However, that was a mere curtain raiser for his impressive 2km time trial at the draft combine, dispelling doubts with a 6min 24 second run.

Cody also improved his speed and agility tests, which he had been focusing on throughout the year.

“I’ve always had endurance running as one of the things that has been a good strength for me,” Cody said.

“But knowing that a lot of people sort of doubt my ability to work around the ground as a bigger guy, it was sort of something that I really wanted to prove to clubs that I’m able to do.

“They don’t think it is lack of ability to be able to, so they just wanted to see me prove myself in the 2k, which I think I did.

“I was still a bit disappointed with the 6:24 because (the previous week) in WA at the aths track with all the state boys I did a 6:15, so I was feeling pretty good.”

The Crows had explored their options to add a second first-round pick or shuffle up the board a touch. But they are staying put now, having decided they didn’t want to trade a future first-round pick into this year given the strength of the 2026 draft. looks like is front of mind for the Crows, who have been linked to key forwards Mitch Marsh, Archie Ludowyke and Aidan Schubert. But small forward Lachy Dovaston, rebounding defender Oskar Taylor and key defender Blake Thredgold are among other players set to come into consideration. What Adelaide targets later in the order will depend on what they do with their first pick and who is still available. However, Cody Curtin – a 200cm key forward who is the younger brother of current Crows star Dan – has been linked.

C4[2]Yo`DooR Seems pretty early for the pick 9 and 11 trades to be talked about as near done deals in the media. Are they done, or is Carlton just trying to inject some FOMO into the market for their picks?

I think it was always going to be difficult for any club to calculate whether the player they’d trade into 9 or 11 for would still be on the board - and all of that has to be judged in real time as (or before) a bid on Dean comes in.

With West Coast publicly posturing about an early bid unless we traded 9 for 13 and 34, the club did the sensible thing by structuring deals that gave us proper bid coverage, while also preventing the Eagles from pushing pick 13 up the order (via our picks chewed up in matching bids).

So for that reason, I’m inclined to lean on Cal Twomey’s view that Essendon and North were always the most realistic trade partners… though he did note that a club throwing in a future first (unlikely) could have shifted the conversation.

But Ogilvie said next year’s group could very well be even better.

“As good as this year’s group was next year’s South Australian group looks really good, maybe better,” he said.
“So there would be some reluctance to use a future one unless it was for a certain player.”

The Crows have the most South Australians on their list out of any AFL club, with the percentage increasing over the past five years.

But Ogilvie said where they were after claiming the minor premiership in 2025 meant they just had to take the best available player.

“Probably where we are in our build now you have to take the best player no matter where they come from,” he said.

“I think where we are at now you take the best player with our first pick no matter and then balancing out with our second pick.”

He said that would apply to the position of players the Crows take, with the addition of Finnbar Maley from North Melbourne meaning they could wait until next year’s draft to look at an emerging ruck.
“A little bit of the rule changes, you would look at having your three rucks or two and two tall forwards who can ruck,” he said.

“You have your wrestler in (Reilly) O’Brien, your long tall bloke in (Lachlan) McAndrew and your jumper is Finnbar or perhaps something out the back.

“I like the ruckman in next year’s pool more … we are not going to obsess with a ruck it is not a massive need.”

The Crows other focus from this week will be to get Brisbane’s dual-premiership forward Callum Ah Chee

Port Adelaide did hint it could try and meet with Ah Chee given the Power would have a pick ahead of the Crows in the pre-season draft.

But the Crows are confident they will get Ah Chee to West Lakes this week.

Normally I'd agree, but considering the linked teams are the Bombers and the Roos, they seem more likely to just want to get talent in the door rather than target 1 or 2 very specific guys.
