Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Young is an average depth players in 3 positions. Without him you probably have to recruit 3 average depth players. One for each spot.
Agree with this. However, if he's regularly playing, you're not getting very far. You'd not want to go into a finals series with him playing a key role but you'd be fine mid season as injury cover for a fortnight.

If young plays more than 10 games this year, or to be more accurate, if we NEED Young in a KPP starting role then we are in trouble. I totally agree with that.

I reckon we need to remember that our list was crippled by injury in 2025.

I have high hopes for 2026 if:
  • Jagga Smith can get on the park to add some zip in the midfield
  • Ainsworth, Hayward and Florent can improve our forward entries and forward structure. Both defensively and in terms of dynamics.
  • Reidy can take over the 1st Ruck position.
  • Newman plays. He is a gun.
  • Dean plays 10 to 12 games.
I reckon if most of the above can happen and our current leaders, Cripps, Walsh, Weitering and Harry can perform then we won't be going backwards.

Just because Lemmey didn't work out should not be justification for not drafting another young tall whether that is this draft or the following year definitely need a developing tall, if Harry goes down our replacements are pretty much zero.

Not sure anyone is suggesting forcing it, merely that is a clearly a area of need.

If anything it's the opposite. Had a crack with Lemmey, didn't work, go back to the well with a revised set of required attributes.

Lemmey had the talent and skills, but evidently not the combative and aggressive mindset. Just find a bloke who likes to crash packs, has sticky hands and a solid set shot technique. Not very agile? Don't care. Doesn't lay tackles? Don't care. Can't ruck? Don't care. Tires by half time? Don't care.

Get a cheap, young key forward who can do the key forward things good - see ball, catch ball, kick ball between big sticks, unga bunga. Spend 3-4 years teaching them AFL-level leading patterns, building their endurance to tolerable levels, and then let them play a supporting role crunching defenders and kicking 30-40 goals a year. If they end up a 60-70 goal a year player, amazing, but with later picks we should set our sights lower - 50/50 solid vs bust, rather than 10/90 gun vs bust.

He shouldn’t really be, dry off-season compared to the rest..baseline not affected.

His manager mentioned he was in ripping nick and raring to go.

I’m assuming his manager said this before he had his skin folds done.

Just on EH, there's an interesting article by ABC on 2020 draft year (mostly reflecting on other players). But EH was one in the COVID affected draft. Always 'hindsight' stuff, but one wonders what impact this had on him (as others)...
