If we look at gettting a mid/potential mid, this would be my preference order for tonight

J Pou
BOB
Onley
Greeves
LeRay
Holmes
Rodriguez
NRT

Also really like Rory Wright, though there’s only a bit of mid potential there, probably more a half back

Don’t see NHH as a potential mid
Angus Anderson as a mature aged pick too.

I know when we interviewed the Murray Bushrangers players during the year Ryder Corrigan was one that we looked at....Hamish special? Big bodied aggressive mid, none tougher in this draft, kicking a bit hit and miss but nobody gets an easy kick on him.

Can Corrigan Mark?

Been a bit out of the loop, what is BOB's full name?

Agree with this listing otherwise, think Onley and J Pou add that size and explosiveness in that midfield we need going forward to complement our current group of young mids.

Well he is one of the better mids still on the board along with Riley Onley, Fred Rodriguez etc. Ollie Greeves is still there so he has to be the big slider with AFL clubs, probably goes to the Hawks given they tried hard to get him as an NGA early in the year.
He was one you had mentioned a bit early in the season, but have gone off him and n the lead up to the draft.

Just hasn’t progressed in your opinion or his lack of athleticism will hold him back?

Always love your input on the draftees!!

Ah Chee is 182 cm, he is not a Tex replacement

Fog replaces Tex as the go to lead up forward. It’s Fog’s 3rd banana role that needs replacing when Tex isn’t there. Question is whether it’s a forward like Ah Chee or could be an extra mid rotating that will result in Rankine, Curtin and Dawson spending some/more time in our 50. In time maybe it’s Marsh, but by then Keays and ANB could potentially be battling to be much better than fringe.

Drilled down into his games more and he is a very poor runner, think that's why recruiters are marking him down.

Unbelievable Sharp was there at Carlton’s pick they were desperate go get out of.

Essendon got it for a bunch of picks in the 20s. Then we tried too late to jump in.

Poor list management this off season.
Essendon still had 2 picks ahead of the pick they got from Carlton, and Essendon knowing how much the Crows wanted him would've just taken him with their earlier picks. Crows would've traded up and ended up with Dovaston.

Yeah I think Chellappah mentioned the Dons even had Sharp over Farrow on their board, yet took Farrow first because the Dees were more likely to pick him

Waterworth linking us to Burmeister again
I really don't get this, IMO big Floyd hasn't come on at all this year as an Overager and I've watched every game he's played the last 3 years. Still drops too many overhead marks he gets his hands on and times his leaps all wrong both when in play and in ruck. Sure he's very athletic, quick and has really good hops but I'm not seeing it at AFL, too much to work on.

Irrelevant. It's already been pointed out that this scenario would not have happened had we traded up to nine before the draft (with 2 firsts). Essendon (or, whoever) would simply have changed the order of their picks to get him before us.

I'm actually not that happy that we tried late. I don't know that Marsh+next year's first is sensible value for Sharp.

As it is, the situation is:
Total capital spent: Pick 23
Total incomings: Marsh, AhChee, Cotton

Pretty good value there.
I was kind of happy it didn't go through, as long as we got Marsh. If we missed out on Marsh; would've been devastated.
All pre-draft, Dyson was talking about how awesome it'd be to play for Essendon, the team he grew up barracking. It was like he was trying to dissuade the Crows from trying.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is Marsh a long term Tex replacement? If so, grabbing Curtin now doesn't seem to make much sense given Thilthorpe and Fog already hold key Fwd roles long term, and Welsh is already a developing tall along with Marsh now.

Unless we are thinking at 200cm he can push into the ruck to replace ROB eventually? But then again we already have T Murray and Mcandrew as developing ruck backups, and then you chuck Maley in there too.

And if the thought process is maybe swinging him back, We already have a surplus of key backs as it is with N Murray, Keane, Butts, Borlase, Worell.

I think we would be better off taking a punt on another mid prospect at this stage. Am I wrong? Would love to hear other perspectives.

Different story if we had managed to trade up to Sharp. Just on that, happy that we at least had a crack instead of doing nothing.

Didn't realise (until they told me) but I was talking to a relative of Oskar Taylor's today (they were there with him last night at home) but the family was certain Crows were going to take him if he was still there at our pick. We'd had the most meetings with him out of any club. Just a tid bit of info, which doesn't help when GWS took him prior to our pick. Family was happy for him to go to Adelaide, but also excited for GWS where he might remain a little more anonymous in the street rather than Adelaide.

I guess a low risk high reward player that we used to use the rookie list for, I think we have some other priorities we should address first before a KPF unless they see more as a ruck?

If we draft him, makes the recruiting of Maley stranger IMO.
