I vaguely recall having a bit of an argument about claiming of aboriginality in here months ago. I don't claim mine because I've grown up white and without any of the historical challenges faced by indigenous Australians. I abhor white people claiming aboriginality when they've grown up white, it's disrespectful to genuine indigenous Australians. That's my opinion at least. I'm pretty sure that I had very little support for my views, particularly from the Jen types. I'm surprised Kristof and a coupe of our local mods are expressing these types of views, inclusivity only when it suits I guess.

My point was more about the potential that this revelation was purely fabricated to get him to qualify as a NGA player for them.

It’s too quick and it’s placing unnecessary stress on the game. $67k is obscene money for a few months part time work when the players can’t execute skills and the game is bleeding $ in the tens of million range. You can map out the wage increases over 15 years and achieve the same result re incentivising the kids. And reality is the girls will play it anyway because they love the game.

That was Marinoff, last season, who was the highest paid player in the league. She was on the tier 1 salary (100k?) and the rest was external (not from the AFL) via declared promotional/media stuff.

Port should have let him go this year. It will become a massive side show in Carr's second full year of coaching.

That wasn’t my point. Why didn’t Port trade him this year was the original statement I believe. We hold players in the hope they change their mind and stay. That was the reference I was trying to make. You hope by holding them they do a Boak over Danger. Both were expected to leave. One stayed. That’s the hope and risk.

It's true, gotta limit it to one player in the first round either NGA Academy or Father Son, this compromised draft where there are 28 picks in the first round is utter bullshit

Does it really change anything though? Players get pushed down with the clubs.

The recent rule change that you can only use 2 picks to match starting next year and it has to be the points value helps, if on top of it you add you can have only one on the first round, perhaps the talent is more likely to go where it needs to go.

Not going to pretend I have a solution for everyone but it might help the noise if Academys etc cant be bid on or chosen in the 1st round

ie everyone has a clean selection in their listed finishing order in the 1st round

Again I know its not the best and how it affects points and all but ehh
