Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
Thatās fine, my personal view is we were already short on key position/ ruck options last year then we lost Curnow, Dekoning and Silvagni in one off season and replaced them with only Riedy and Dean.
Oāffarrell is injured but he Dean and Oākeffe are babies and should be allowed to develop at their own speed nothing should be expected of them in their first 3/4 years of development, itās much harder for a key position player to contribute early in their career compared to a midfielder or flanker.
Kemp still has question marks if he makes it as a key position player rather than a third option and is coming off one of the most serious injuries a footballer can have.
My view is we needed to target more senior key position players while the younger guys develop I donāt want to see Harry Dean playing on Jeremy Cameron or Jesse Hogan in his first year.
The options were out there if we targeted those specific players, for example rather than recruiting a contracted Florent who doesnāt really play a position of great need for us and giving him a well paid 5 year deal would it not have been better to offer that contract to a Grezewski type ( just using him as an example) and somewhat help fill a position of need.

Theyāll get eaten up by Walker selection and with the AFL obsessed to make it impossible for FS to go top 10, weāll be lucky to have a 2nd left. They will make us trash our list even further.![]()
Itās been a great result all round, firstly Wright taking over Davies appointment, assistant coaching, line changes, development as well as the addition of Simpsonā¦Reads well. Add this to all the off field changes to our Football Department
Simpson, Davies, Boak, Fraser, Trusgrove, Townsend, Adams and more
Ines will have his first full pre season after a season of assessment
Wright promised a lot and so far he has delivered
I also heard this.
He forgot we traded the 2026 third

I agree, Weitering is probably the highest rated junior key defender to come through the system ever and before the start of his 4th year some were calling him a bust or saying we should play him forward it was ridiculous.Any chance we might strike it lucky like the Lions with Morris and Gallup?
But im with you I donāt want to see Dean thrown to the wolves early, like Matthew Watson was - where he played on Travis Cloke twice in his first handful of games - he was spooked after that, although I believe that Dean is a far superior prospect.
Conversely you don't want them rushing or taking shortcuts trying to get back too soon.I think backing in a young gun through a tough rehab with the incentive to be able to play next year is more important than adding a 45th player.

Key position players take longer to develop and should never be rushed if the talent is their and they work hard they make it they shouldnāt be thrown to the wolves.
I think personally we will play key forwards this year as McKay, Okeefe , with Reid'y Kemp Cripps & Young spending time up forward. Possibly target someone next year. Remember the pies one a flag with Miocheck & Cox
Every player is different. Sam Darcy virtually came straight in. Some can handle it
Need to assess each player on their merits. Key now is our development team
Darcy only played at total of 7 games in his first 2 seasons so definitely needed time.Every player is different. Sam Darcy virtually came straight in. Some can handle it

Their are always exceptions but even a player like Sam Darcy is a perfect example he only played 7 games for 3 goals in his first two seasons due to injuries and not quite being ready and this year was really his breakthrough year in his 4th season.Every player is different. Patience is the key with talented key position players, as our list stands at the moment we are almost forced into playing Dean because our options are so limited.
He's entitled to a fair warning, before I march off to the 'welcome to Michael Voss thread'.ā...so I'm giving him 1 more chance.ā
Iām sure heās relieved to hear that.
King would be a great addition - almost like one of the final pieces in the jigsaw to see us eing competitive with the big boys. Not sure if GCS would be in a position to match an offer either.Yeah, shortage of genuine talls may add credence to Ben King free agency suggestions. Bloody good player, somewhat under rated in Victoria. I am confident with what a combo of OāKeeffe and Kemp can add to Big H, with ācameosā from Moir and maybe Ison, but King is definitely class.
The Collingwood era Wright presided over was always seemingly under supplied with talls, perhaps is a philosophy of his.
You can if you feel like it but donāt tell others what to think. ThanksCan we hold off on the Chicken Little stuff til after the AFL announce the actual changes?

We need to add another round one selection in what is supposedly going to be a strong draft next year, IMO, or trading out pick 28 this year doesn't make a lot of sense.King would be a great addition - almost like one of the final pieces in the jigsaw to see us eing competitive with the big boys. Adding King as a FA, and Walker through the ND next year would be a great result.
Moving up in the draft will be next door to impossible. Our list management team had to bank extra picks now. Too easy for oppo teams to block availability to picks and therefore fo our player. Port Adelaide will be almost compelled to trade Butters to get the capital for Cochrane. It may cost āall we haveā including a future 1 for deficit, but we will get Cody.People underestimate how much our picks are going to grow in value next year.
Last year before massively compromised drafts due to Tassie introduction; fewer NGA players in the top tier; some superstars out of contract ⦠itās going to be a frenzy.

Nah trading out pick 28 was a good move, all the good talent was long gone and now we have two future 2nd rounders, one of them tied to North Melbourne, if North have another down year their 2nd could be around pick 20, We can easily package them up and get another 1st
Not sure what that has to do with my post??We need to add another round one selection in what is supposedly going to be a strong draft next year, IMO, or trading out pick 28 this year doesn't make a lot of sense.
