"Turned the beat around".. Gloria would be proud.

I've always said "better to be lucky than good".

You reckon it’s luck? They prepare for drafts years in advance. Reckon the scouts and Brady knew there was a good chance of being able to trade back into the first round without giving up a lot considering the amount of F/S & academy players likely to go high.

Credit where it’s due.

With the trading that everyone scoffed at last year.

LOL. Just hold your horses there Val. Time will judge if any of the above was the right move. Clowns jerking off at Will Phillips one Brownlow Vote against the Gold Coast is an illustration of giving head to yourself. Where is he now? There is a reason we have been so bad for so long. One of the primary reasons is that Rawling is a moron. :stern look

Same goes for you Z, except you didn’t hold your horses

What? Have I passed judgement on the current draft hall. My judgment of Rawling is based on his buffoonery since 2020. Val it’s like this. No point arguing with me. Because I’m up here and you’re down there. :stern look

Brady and company have nailed the draft for the last 5 years doesn't matter how may top 10 picks we have had they still have to get them right and they have nailed every draft since 2021. So like you say credit where its due.

I'm baffled as to how we have not escaped the bottom four in that time.

Certainly a nice mix of players we've brought on the past 5 drafts.

Curtis
Goater
Archer
Sheezel
Wardlaw
George
Harvey
McKercher
Duursma
Dawson
Goad
Hardeman
O'Sullivan
Whitlock
Stevens
Trembath
Banch
Dovaston
Thredgold
Mikunda

Add them to the established LDU, Xerri, Larkey, Zuurhaar, Simpkin, Comben.

Al Clarko...it's time, old boy.

Happy to take you on in an IQ test pupstar. It won't end well for you.

I did of them IQ tests and scored 69 : stern look.

Our Nat drafting has been pretty bloody good from the 2021 draft onwards. Yes you can argue on present output that Duursma was a poor choice. But I'm not giving up in him.

This year the experts have lauded our performance. I personally don't follow drafting closely so have NFI. But I do know that we also picked up BOABBanch & Trembath in 2025.

Unfortunately due to being so bad, we need another 25-35 games into a lot of footballers.

Has it been though, when we take the NM goggles off?

2021
#1: JHF, no longer with us and it is arguable that's because we didn't do due diligence. Callaghan was the right pick here.
#22: Goater. 4 years into his career and can't get on the park. Could change but as it stands it's not a win for a high second round pick.
#35: Curtis: win.
#38: Bergman, delisted
#59: Archer, seems alright but can't get on the park.

MSD: Selected Edwards and passed on Newcombe. Huge L.

2022
#3: Sheezel, big win.
#4: Wardlaw. Lots of potential, yet to fulfil it mostly due to injury. Jury is out.
#26: George. Hasn't played a game.
#56: Cooper Harvey. Odds on to be delisted.

None of our rookie selections remain with us.

MSD: Dawson, delisted.

2023
#3: McKercher: win.
#4: Duursma: not looking good.
#20: Goad, hasn't played a game.
#22: Dawson, far from establishing himself.
#23: Hardeman, seems a good pick.

Rookie: Maley no longer with us.
MSD: RHJ likely to be delisted.

2024:
#2 FOS seems good, too early to say it's a win for a #2 pick.
#3 (actually 27): Whitlock. Too early to say.
#57: Urquhart, too early to say, but done nothing.
#67: Stevens, looks promising.

MSD: Payne and Teakle gone.

2025: Banch and Trembath look promising, too early to tell for the whole crop.

----

All in all we've had roughly 28 selections. Including 7 top 5 picks.

We have turned that into the following who have proved they are definitely, undoubtedly best 22:

Curtis
Archer
Sheezel
Wardlaw
McKercher
Hardeman
FOS

A few others are fringe or haven't done enough for us to be sure. Plus Wardlaw and Archer struggling to consistently get on the park.

Given our draft capital I'm not sure we've done that well mate. Still lots of 'wait and see' about these crops.
