I wouldn't mind BOB and Hollands training against each other for the DSP spot if that's possible? Although I do like Taj Murray as well
id prefer hollands and mitch stevens for the two spots.

but it doesn't matter who you put hollands up against if there is one spot he will get it. training the house down and playing isn't the issue clearly.

Not if we develop another tall forward who can kick 50-60 plus goals a season, supplement by others who can kick 40 plus each.
Surely thats 3 years away though

Are we watching the same player here with Welsh? What do you want to see from the guy, I assume its like a 30 goal season or 25 disposal a game or something like that??

Some stats to put his 2025 sanfl season in context

Player, Games, Goals, Disposals per Game
Burgess, 18, 56, 11.9
Cook, 16, 27, 13.6
Strachan, 14, 20, 13.6
Nank, 14, 16, 19.6
Dowling, 17, 16, 22.4
Drury, 19, 14, 18.8
Pedlar, 9, 12, 17.0
Gallagher, 17, 12, 8.5
Welsh, 13, 10, 6.5

2024 season high goalkickers: Gollant 29, Burgess 25, Murray 17, Gallagher 13, Welsh 10 (5 of the 10 came in one game)
2023 season high goalkickers: Gollant 42, Newchurch 28, Wright 21, Cook 19, Himmelberg 18
2022 season high goalkickers: Wright 35, Gollant 28, Newchurch 26, Macasey and Himmelberg 19

When you consider Welsh was playing fourth string forward behind Burgess, Murray, Strachan and Cook and considering the time in the system of a lot of those other guys that led our goal kicking this year Welsh was ok to good. If you look at his disposals per game which is incredibly low, if he can double that to 12 per game I reckon he'd start to get into the 20-30 goals per year depending on how many games he plays which is where the majority of our good forwards have been playing at. He loses Strachan and Burgess this year but will get Maley and Ludowyke back again so he'll still be down the list a bit. Most people would've considered Nank to have a pretty good year in the SANFL and he was only 6 goals further in front of Welsh. Anyway, we shall see.

Is he?

I thought he was kicked out of the club in disgrace
But harsh

The lad is on record saying he had some alcohol issues and since has gone through a counselling program

He’s a talent, a free hit and worth the risk

Didn’t we kick Stengle out in disgrace and how did that work out for him - All Australian

This is true, his versatility across the ground is incredibly elite and valuable, but that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be seen as primarily a forward

To go one step further, if you are not seeing Thilthorpe as primarily a forward, you have horrifically overthought it.

Dude is a key forward you can build an entire offensive game around, which is worth its weight in gold. We are also fast approaching the point where we should be heavily considering ditching his non-forward 50 ruck minutes.

Does anyone know a specific date we will find out who we will be training?
Hoping it’s BOB and Hollands

Is there a specific date? I thought this was something that could happen at any point whilst the SPP window is open.

Basically kicked out of 2 clubs and it wasn't just drugs and alcohol especially at Carlton and it's not as though it's a secret. Hell even his brother booted him out of their shared living set up.

The first guy sounds like Tom McGuane. The second guy, based on my googling, might be... Harry Arnold?

Correct on McGuane. He's very, very small and light though. So not entirely sure why we need a small forward under 180 who will blow away in the wind. Collingwood clearly didn't rate him.

Harry Arnold fits the description. KPD, 24 years old. Came through Gold Coast Academy. Hasn't played a game for Sydney though. The other I researched was Zac Foot, who's played 2 games. Midfielder, now plays at Southport (Gold Coast), but still young at 21.

We do have a habit of plucking decent KPD's out of nowhere though and with Butts being courted it could be Arnold.

Do you have some intel which suggests it'll be McGuane + Foot? First time I've heard those names linked to us. McGuane was spoken about as a potential top 10 pick at the start of the year.

Zac Foot is older than that has to be around 25, I remember him playing for the Dandenong Stingrays in 2018, good pace with an awkward kicking style but surprisingly accurate given that, I think he might be of indigenous descent?
