I just love the guy's determination.

Anyone who can survive being 17 and not having the use of his wrists for a couple of months clearly has superior willpower.
Surely one of his mates gave him a reach around while the poor kids was in plaster.

Heard somewhere that he slipped over before his 2km time trial at the draft and still easily won and was well below sub six which is elite. Genuinely elite runner.

Yup, fell over at the start.
Got up and won.

Will debut in 2026. Bookmark it.

Kid is an absolute rippa - nothing is too hard, nothing too demeaning.

Has the attitude you want in a learning environment.

Can also spell.

He'll be the best of the 5 by some way.

Can't risk him slipping over at a crucial point of a Grand Final.

DELIST!

Missed most of the season with two broken wrists after squatting the gym!

I mean trying to do a full rack of dumbbells would be ambitious, but to squat a whole gym is Marvel hero worthy.

Even with the broken wrists.

Changing up gears... Psyched about him, that summary you wrote sounds unreal. Never heard his name till now, but have a soft spot for shorter mids at around 177 who can run and get on the burst all day. The best of them was a pretty handy player, and there's a tradition of them winning brownlows no less.

I'm sure the nurses took good care of him

A bit more about JD for those interested.

This kid has huge upside. Quick Hands. Runs all day. Great acceleration.

I love the way he kicks into the 50 to where a good forward should lead to, not where they are.

Huge hopes for this kid. Will be a star.

Any examples of this you can share? I didn't know much of Dalton before the draft and have been going through game vision and highlights and haven't seen this.

He certainly has strength, clean pickup, pretty good vision to dish out handballs, seems to setup well at contests and know when to go in and get it or when to hold and be a receiver. But haven't seen many good kicks, or many kicks into the forward 50, most are either in field or shots on goal.

I saw an interview where he said he asked his strengths and he said being damaging with his kicking. While most reports said kicking was a weakness (vision i've seen backs this) but that it is something that did greatly improve this year from 2024 and got better as the year went on, which is promising.

Dylan Moore was a high IQ running machine in his underage year. Thought to be too small and too slow to make it as a midfielder, let alone as an AFL footballer.

No reason why Jack can't. Hopefully Moore puts him under his wing.

Interesting to look back on the combine results. Dylan Moore won the 2KM time trial in 2017 in 6.09. CJ was 8th in 6.17.

CJ also scored well in the Goal kicking test.

In the overall Kicking test, Ned Reeves and Jackson Ross were equal second (with others) with a score of 29/30. On the third line with 28/30 was Lloyd Meek.

Was just about to post about the Moore comparison. Glad I'm not the only one who sees it.

How the hell did this kid slip to pick 34??? This was the most bizarre draft ever! Could end up being one of the best form this draft. Looks like an AFL player, will be a gun. Bookmark it. Also looked like he combined with Greaves ?? for quite a few plays in that clip?

Does he take number 9 straight away?
