Excuse my ignorance, but what did we have to give up to match this bid?

0 points. Pick 36 is the last pick you need to use points for.

Welcome Huss! Was hoping you'd slide but not to be

I believe we 'matched' with the pick we had remaining in the 60s. AFAIK there's no points value to match but you do need a pick available.

Watched most of our NGA boys games and whilst Adam was the more consistent, Huss' best was a fraction bit better, the highlights were more impressive.

Be under no illusion that he is still coming from a fair way back in both a footballing sense, he averaged 12 possessions a game in a fwd/mid role for the Cannons, and whilst his main objective is to kick goals (another story), he still lacks in deffensive prowess.

The raw athletic profile is on show and with a clear development program you can see what he could become. I hope he makes it, 2 years is probably the right call, we (footballing public) may get impatient and call for a delisting after one year if it went that way

He needs a good couple of preseasons to be anywhere near a prospect.

I like his theoretical skillset, and he’s worth a shot. But he could just run out an u 18’s game, and would struggle with a full vfl game for a good while yet. His first 2 preseasons will tell a tale of whether he’s a chance, but people shouldn’t be expecting anything early.

Ability is clearly there. Echoing other peoples sentiments here but I don't expect anything early on, needs to do some work in the VFL on his consistency/fitness. I'll be interested to see where he's at in 12 months.

At least he's already showed he can kick goals at VFL level.
If he can kick goals consistently, there will be calls for him to come in, possibly before his fitness is of AFL standard.

Remember when wanganeen got games early days.

Will hopefully only get games once he shows he can defensive pressure is consistently excellent

Thats what I was hoping from the Davey's remember Alwyn Snr winning the innaugral Army award.

This award was given to players who "produce act(s) of bravery or selflessness to promote the cause of his team".

Kako's tackling has improved from training vision as well as Nguyen.

I like this selection - saw the VFL game where he kicked 3 in a half. Looks composed and very quick off first few steps. He does have to build his tank though so I dont think he'll debut early but hopefully can build his tank enough to play seniors in back half of 2026 and form a dangerous small forward combo with Kako

I wish Huss nothing but the best but one and done for mine.
I will be interested to see how his career goes against a Riley Onley or an Oliver Greeves. We showed great discipline passing on Adam and I feel we should have done the same with Huss.
I really hope I am wrong obviously.

What is the main complaint you have with him?

FMD, has hardly stepped foot in the door.

Think he could form a good trio with Kako & Unwin IMO.

Couple of things here,

1) we've hardly paid a premium for him, sure, a Cat B rookie spot would have been ideal but he landed about where he was meant to, if anything slightly ahead. He could be a match winner hence being senior listed

2) the kids you suggested are inside mids, something we obviously addressed with our earlier picks

3) he's hardly been at the club in a senior listed capacity mate, not yet matured and 2-years is probably right for the slight small fwd he is.

was it the players left on the board or was it who we selected that bothers you the most?

He does not have a tank that is up to it. His repeated efforts are not good.
He lacks class and kicking talent. His finishing is inconsistent.
He is absolutely no threat in the air. Someone earlier posted that he was like Rankine which is laughable.
He provides no forward pressure.
He has not shown Kako’s ability at 18s level to run through the midfield.
I think Le Ray, Greeves and Onley are all better prospects.
It is nothing personal against Huss however we were so disciplined with the sweid decision which I agreed with and were not with Huss.
As I said I hope I am wrong.

What gaps do Le Ray, Greeves and Onley fill in our team?
