Not into penalising teams for being successful. That stinks.

It is up to the rest to get to that level. For once in the clubs sad and tragic history have the tin rattlers stood for something. We should applaud them not look to cut them down.

The AFL need to ensure there are outlets for players to change clubs and move. Only free agents should be definitive in which club they choose but other clubs have the opportunity to step in.
AFLW pay tier system might have been fit for purpose at launch but is long outdated now and encourages super teams.

League shouldn’t strip North of picks or anything like that, but the change to a proper salary cap is long overdue. Will take a while to even out and good on North in many ways, but the system has backed in the creation of a handful of super teams, time for a change.

But one of the North players said it was all down to resources and working harder. :drunk:
They did take their womens program seriously well before other teams, and treated success in it as a major goal in its own right, rather than as an after thought to the mens program as well. And this started prior to the AFLW, so they got a 5+ years head start on the Eagles, maybe 10.

Kind of the opposite argument isnt it? Do the Pies deserve any help when by all reports they really werent interested for the most part?

Well, the question is, what are you looking to achieve. Ive never seen a good team become bad, due to handouts given to bad teams. North should be able to ride out assistance packages to other teams. But I can see them going undefeated next year too. If they go into 2027 not having lost in 3 years, and still steamrolling most of the teams in the comp, thats bad for the comp, and therefore, bad for North. Its better for them, to be the best team in a comp, where they can lose if they have a bad day, than go on a multi year long winning streak where no one really gets close.

Looks like the Crows are getting Grace Egan. The rich get richer. While West Coast commit do what West Coast do best during trade periods which is sit on their hands and do nothing while teams around them push to improve their lists.

How do you know they didn't approach her and she didn't want to move to Perth?

Spare me with the "Classic West Coast not making any moves again" whinge. We have no idea what conversations do or do not take place when it comes to recruitment.

The article even says she met with a handful of clubs.

It all comes down to value obviously, but with the incoming draft class always a step up on the bottom tier of most lists year on year, hitting the draft hard is not sitting on our hands either. W juniors are getting bloody good.

Still would love to pry that North mid loose though.

So, uh... does anyone remember this guy? He's the new Crows AFLW coach now.

I do. Was a rookie draft pick, played for a couple years but got delisted before we finally bottomed out to get Gaff and Darling. Mostly remembered for being a Swanny D's 2010 Premiership player.
