Literally three of the worst four callers on fox footy.

It's Dermie! AGAINST THE NETWORK THAT DIDN'T WANT HIM!Wouldn't be surprised if channel 7 have a go at him.
To be fair I like very few. I'm not a fan of the engagement they're forced to provide nor the level of unprofessionalism that comes from their sycophantic behaviour. With the talk of US sports in the other thread they absolutely knock commentary out of the park (pun intended). No bias, call the game, give information and don't try to provide lame fireworks.
That's just me though.![]()
I really would like to find the person who likes the screaming style of dumbed down commentary we get in Australia - it’s not just AFL, cricket suffers from it as well

Howie has almost single handedly ruined both broadcasts. If I was selecting I’d goI really would like to find the person who likes the screaming style of dumbed down commentary we get in Australia - it’s not just AFL, cricket suffers from it as well
Hate BT more what its worth but I also don't watch Ch7 coverage as much as I can so not as a big of a deal for me.Footy callers are one huge reason for why I’m watching less footy. I used to hate Derm but he has a passion and actually improved over the last few years. It might be annoying to some but I actually love how he explains basics footy things to is as if we are under 10’s. BT and his popularity ruined AFL commentary in my mind and the day he leaves is a huge win for footy fans.
10/10He was loquacious but he holds a genuine love for the game and gets excited about little positive things for players. It was sometimes tedious but mostly endearing.
However he doesn't yell enough, make constant groans, or have any catchphrases so he had to go. We need more raised voice crescendo sound bites like we get from elite callers such as Huddo, Howie and Dwayne who really know what the audience wants.
Damien Barrett is his name.. loves Bt and Brayshaws way they call games….I really would like to find the person who likes the screaming style of dumbed down commentary we get in Australia - it’s not just AFL, cricket suffers from it as well
Watching old matches also reminds me how much I hate the stand rule.I watch old matches in the off season. There is a sense of nostalgia, young me remembers things a lot differently and I can find faults in the commentary now, well, the Victorian biases and influences come through clearer but by and large, the difference is just incredible.
You would think the game with how far it has advanced, that commentary and all things associated with it would be at a higher level, but that sure isn’t the case.
It’s not just [sport Howie screams his way through] it’s also [other sport Howie screams his way through].I really would like to find the person who likes the screaming style of dumbed down commentary we get in Australia - it’s not just AFL, cricket suffers from it as well
Whenever referencing/introducing any former player in both cricket or footyJeez now I'm thinking about another year of listening to ****ing HowieView attachment 2489748
I dunno where it came from but I reckon Bruce is helped popularised it with his horse racing style of calling. I always found Bruce way too much but Dennis calmed his thinder down in that relationship. I love banter bit screaming as well as too much banter ruined footy and cricket commentary. It’s not just [sport Howie screams his way through] it’s also [other sport Howie screams his way through].
I’ll call the detective agency, see if we can crack this one.
Like the great man Dennis Cometti said "If you constantly get excited whilst commentating, it leaves you nowhere to go when something happens that is worth getting excited for".Screaming when the moment calls for it is fine. Screaming to try and manufacture that moment and convince the audience they're seeing something special every single game is annoying.
“Ball spills out, here’s the man from insert regional Victorian town here”Whenever referencing/introducing any former player in both cricket or footy
‘the greaat man’
People hang shit on Dwayne but I think his enthusiasm is a lot better than some of the others (ie "the orange team"). We still regularly quote "the team that didn't want him" - he's memorable to say the least.I’m sad by that news. Although he could waffle at times, he genuinely loves the game and more often than not came from a place of encouragement. Especially considering he was routinely scheduled on some of the more unappealing match ups.
Disappointing. Derwayne still there. Plus Riewoldt, Lewis etc.
Huddle used to be amazing, not sure what happened to him.Literally three of the worst four callers on fox footy.
The Miracle on Grass was against his side tooHuddle used to be amazing, not sure what happened to him.
His classic "Nick Davis, I see it but I don't believe it" was said as he watched his beloved cats absolutely choke from a big lead in a semi final. Wouldn't have known he was a supporter.

LaconicCan we start correctly using “drivel” instead of “dribble”, friends?
