So Carey was out and the snicko operator conveniently chose the wrong stump mic, hence the mismatched audio…

Where was the vision showing the bat was even close to the ball???? Given the massive spike, it would have been massive snick from the bat.

4 years younger than Carey. He's likely to be our next keeper.

He also looked really good today I thought, before getting out a little stupidly. Still think he he has some potential with the bat.

McSweeney and Renshaw are my next two in, and possibly soon. Josh would know this.

Personally hoping the Weatherald can post another strong score or two bwfore the series is over to give us all the confidence that he's a medium term option at a minimum.

fairly confident the current squad of 15 will also be named for melbourne and sydney (unless someone is ruled out because of injury). khawaja will get melbourne and sydney and you'd think that'd be it.

the likes of mcsweeney and renshaw need to play well in the back end of the shield season and put themselves forward for selection v bangladesh in august.

No, I’m saying they shouldn’t employ cheating incompetent operators for DRS.
It’s ok, just imagine the furore if that was Joe Root in England getting a “lucky” break like that and going on to make a ton, the media would be going bonkers with the “cheats” theme.

Even the reason doesn’t make sense, if they used the mic from the other end of the pitch then it must have been a click noise at that end like an umpires clicker to count the 6 deliveries. because if it was a nick of Carey’s bat then it would have a delayed noise on the tech and come after the ball passing bat not before.

Jamie Smith's keeping gloves look too big for him
The Pom keepers have usually worn bigger gloves than our blokes, I’ve never got a straight answer for that.

I played with and against a few Pom keepers and they were often surprised at their first look of how small our keepers gloves were.

One of life’s mysteries.

It always looked like more of a different sound, probably the non striker scraping their foot or bat.

The fact snicko had nothing when the ball passed the bat despite everyone, including the deaf bloke, could hear a noise showed something was very amiss.

Wasn't quite Broad hitting it and not being given levels of bad though.

I’m a curator (albeit an amateur one - actually just home from rolling one for a T20 tomorrow evening)

Just in relation to what you’ve posted above, Damian Hough is the Guru of curating in this country and has more data and gadgets to measure moisture than anyone in the country. So while what you’ve said may apply to one of my pitches as I don’t have anything other than my eye, I doubt it’s accurate here. I heard him say he was very happy with were everything was at only yesterday and all his data was consistent with recent years.
It’s a thing with so many variables though as I’m sure you know.

Soil testing for construction, for instance, has a massive amount of parameters.

There’s no known way that even the best curator in the World can precisely replicate their pitch year on year.

It’s one of the game’s beauties.

I always listen when he speaks as he’s got the gadgets to measure moisture, whereas I’ve got just my eye and know what I’ve put on or has fallen from the sky IMG_9781.jpeg

It was bad enough that Australia’s captain smashed the ball to short leg and reviewed hoping for the same error shortly after.

Even Simon taufel during the 7 coverage , suggested that it could have been an issue with audio sync due to operator error. That really should have been out.
As long as it is for both sides, the technology shouldn’t change for the rest of the match but I suspect it will

The climate is much more stable in Adelaide than for example in London. The curator should be able to produce good wickets every year.

Nice deck, I’d be happy with that if I fronted up to play on it.

My ultimate point I suppose is that moisture isn’t everything, there’s hardness, which can be a function of moisture OR/AND soil particle size etc, etc. And multiple other little things, grass types, the list is endless.

You can’t just roll out any old lawn, as you well know.

I’ve played on things that were so moist your boots were clogged in an over, but **** me they were hard.
