I'll leave that to those who have seen more of the Shield. I don't think I've seen Murphy at all this season.

Guessing they will go to Khunemann as the most recent; but Rocchicioli and Swepson also probably in the thinking along with Swepson.
Age probably won't (and should almost never) come into it.

I presume they will play a spinner, not rely on Head and Webster, in Melbourne. Any chance of playing two in Sydney (there was very little to begin with imo) is probably gone.

Swepson shouldn’t come into it one single bit. Awful idea to play him we saw how bad it was last time good for 2-3 pies an over

England should win this test (and series) easily

Got the ashes now time to find 4 new batsmen and a spinner
Need to start planning for 2027
Connolly
McSweeney
Renshaw with Wetherald up front, Head to 5.
Start looking at our younger quicks.

With a proper test ethos, England win at least one of those first three tests.

The hubris of McCullum and their leaders renders them failures.

And it’s glorious.
Perth. Absolutely shat the bed after having Australia on the chopping block

Series wrapped up. 3-0 and now the narrative shifts to Englands hunt for their first win on Australian soil since January 2011 or whether the dreaded whitewash may be on the cards. I don't really think so, England have finally strung together some cohesive cricket this test and looked like they can dominate parts of tests.

You really, truly have to put the blowtorch on the parties involved who gave them no warmup games and turned down extra practice games in between tests. Utterly shambolic preparation that smacked of contemptuous arrogance that has cost England in each of the first 3 tests. Now the Ashes are gone until 2027 with 2 tests back to back to go to demonstrate just how much better they could've been if they'd strung together some centre wicket match practice instead of f***ed off on holidays. I'm not even an English supporter and I'm genuinely aggrieved by that.

I would take Kuhnemann. Shown a lot more discipline at the top level and not sure Murphy has developed further in that respect.

well if times to blood new players...Rocco over Murphy for me if they go a spinner
Murphy's younger and has a Test average of 28. Deserves first crack.

I mean no one ever wants a player to be injured, especially for an extended period, but Nathan 'GOAT' Lyon being out for at least two dead rubber Tests (thank you England) gives us a chance to try something different. Personally think Todd Murphy should get the gig but happy for any other full time spinner to show us what he can do.

Also not a coincidence that England were most threatening when they put away Bazball. So hopefully RIP Bazball and good riddance to that shit.

So, do we give Starc a rest now? He wont want one

Proffessional selectors shouldn't give a rat's arse what a player wants.

Starc and Boland are both over 35 and it is unnecessary to drive them into the dirt when we have won the series and have no real worries about WTC right now. Starc should be rested in Melbourne and Boland's series wrapped up after Melbourne.

Of course, we don't have professional selectors, we have politicians who don't want to make enemies of senior players so Starc will play.
