I assume he's being flown in to replace Neser carrying the drinksWhy wasn't he picked ahead of Neser and Doggett? Why flip flop now?
True, but touring the world as a cricket statistician and stand-up comedian is the sort of life I'd be pretty happy to lead, tbh.He looks like he shoved a fork in the toaster.
Unless the conditions wildly support a bowler, the selectors cant ignore a player who has just taken 5 fer. Neser has to play.Neser should play at the MCG. I like Richardson around the squad but don't know if he's got the overs in him tbh. Especially with Green still not back up to big bowling loads and a new spinner in the team..
Neser is a GABBA specialist and proven to be the right change, we know Doggett won't make it (too pedestrian for international Test). We know Richardson will make it provided he can remain fit.Why wasn't he picked ahead of Neser and Doggett? Why flip flop now?
You have to be old to remember Kent. Most probably one of the most elegant drivers of a cricket ball in his time.
Sadly, never really reached his full potential

Australia has probably been overrepresented compared to some other countries for left arm quicks. Reid, Whitney, Julian and more recent times of Johnson and Starc. West Indies throughout their dominant era relied completely on right arm quicks. England have also had very few. Nice for variety but not a necessity. We need a replacement for Starc soon. We have tonnes of right armers, very few if any left arm fast/fast mediums.
He's supremely talented but do we need a bit more from him in shield cricket to get him in the side. That's my opinion anyway.Interesting cricket Aus has Cooper Connolly’s name thrown in with the spinner. Actually do think.
With Careys form with the bat, I actually think Cooper makes a way more fitting 7 than Inglis. Can Bowl a bit too and can make his way up the batting order eventually
He obviously gets off on that feeling otherwise he’d captain betterI'm gunna get abused for this no doubt but i absolutely love the passion Stokes shows when he gets out or they miss out on a wicket. Cant fault a bloke for hating to lose and caring too much
The lack of Steve Smith news feels slightly worrying.Cooper Connolly is not a spinner, he's a batter. Pick him when he's ready, he's gonna be a gun, but any spin you get out of him is just a bonus, ala Steve Smith, Travis Head etc.
Clearly he has his flaws tactically but who else have they got to lead. They'd be totally ****ed without himHe obviously gets off on that feeling otherwise he’d captain better

Definitely got some Larry Fine about him.He looks like he shoved a fork in the toaster.
He's already been picked.Cooper Connolly is not a spinner, he's a batter. Pick him when he's ready, he's gonna be a gun, but any spin you get out of him is just a bonus, ala Steve Smith, Travis Head etc.
I understand that, he was picked too early, imo, and as a spinner, which was wrong. Led to an underwhelming debut. He's already been picked.
I wouldn't play him as our main spinner but if Smith is not fit, he couldn't bec worse than Inglis has been.
As a batter? He's already been picked.

Look, I have a lot of time for Cooper Connolly to eventually be a test batter but there's at least half a dozen that I'd pick ahead of him.
Give him another year or two in the Shield and if he's starting to hit centuries then he could come in at 24yo and have a 10+ year test career. But go too early on these guys and you risk ruining their career.
Yes he had injury problems with his back.I'm not THAT old.....am I??
I thought we'd see more of him for sure.
Edit: bad back injury finished him didn't it??

Fun fact: Australia has changed its XI for the last 14 matches in a row (Melbourne will be the 15th).I think what will save Green for Melbourne will be Australia has been struggling for a settled team, and being 3-0, the selectors would be loathe to make too many changes to a winning team.
may be true but if you've spent any time in and around inner melbourne you'd know they certainly don't adhere to that.I think virtually all AFL teams have a no alcohol during the season rule
It’s just a ploy to weaken the Scorchers. Watch them both head over and not play.Cooper Connolly is not a spinner, he's a batter. Pick him when he's ready, he's gonna be a gun, but any spin you get out of him is just a bonus, ala Steve Smith, Travis Head etc.
