Altruistic? I doubt they have intervened anywhere for purely altruistic reasons. Sometimes it may have been coincidental that their involvement led to better outcomes however any foreign intervention (overt or covert) they have been involved in has been first and foremost about protecting US military and financial interests. This is clearly demonstrated in their involvement in undermining, subverting or overthrowing democratic governments when they get in the way of access to natural resources and labour markets. Any democratic liberation is purely coincidental to any intervention.

In certain instances they have had to go in and clean up their mess such as Afghanistan and the Islamic fundamentalism of the central Asian nations. The US fostered the Islamists as a way of undermining the Soviet Union before it blew back on them. They overthrew the democratically elected Mossadegh government in Iran because he nationalised their oil industry, after helping the Shah and his repressive regime maintain power all moderate opposition was basically killed off and what was left was the Islamic crazies who came to power in 1979.

Now in Venezuela let's see what happens. Maybe it will turn into a capitalist paradise like Iraq (/s) but let's see whether it becomes a warzone for rival drug cartels to terrorise the local population. The US won't care as all they really want is that oil flowing and for the profits to flow to US oil companies.

I knew you'd say that, so here's a list of interventions for you:

South Korea (1950–1953)
China (1950–1953)
Guatemala (1954)
Lebanon (1958)
Cuba (1961)
Vietnam (1961–1973)
Laos (1964–1973)
Dominican Republic (1965–1966)
Cambodia (1969–1975)
Grenada (1983)
Lebanon (1982–1984)
Libya (1986)
Iraq (1991)
Somalia (1992–1995)
Bosnia and Herzegovina (1995)
Sudan (1998)
Afghanistan (1998)
Kosovo / Serbia (1999)
Afghanistan (2001–2021)
Iraq (2003–2011)
Pakistan (2004–2018)
Libya (2011)
Syria (2014–present)
Iraq (2014–present)
Yemen (2015–present)
Venezuela (2026-present)

Obviously the US were positively pivotal in 1942-1949 in World War 2 and aftermath but based on the global nature of that I haven't included it in as a US intervention. I also haven't included proxy involvement, even though I'd argue I could.
This list doesn't even include the covert intervention such as Iran 1953, the 1980s Contra Wars (including the Iran-Contra Affair starring Oliver North), Chile 1973, the Congo in the 50s/60s etc etc etc

I know, I was being as forgiving as I could, as some of those weren't direct military involvement and more proxy/coup. Turns out he had no idea anyway, I could've made it up and he wouldn't have known.

Using his logic, if an AFL team goes 3W 21L it's hard to tell whether they've had a good season or not. A real "who can really know?" situation.

Do you think democracy runs the USA?

It does and it doesnt.

Surprisingly Trumps level of corruption has been seen before. Nixon and Kissinger were deadset as evil as you can get. I think that initially scared the USA back for time into demonstrating democratic values. But Trump showed that the system is fragile and favours corruption. Especially in an era where politicians favour being in power at any expense. This is why republicans wont impeach Trump. They see it as the better the harm he does than to impeach and be seen as a lame duck party. There is no doubt in my mind that they will back a war with Europe over Greenland because they value the power over right and wrong

But here is the kicker.

These ****ers in congress will vote for the war in greenland but then out of protest they will resign. Like MTG did and a few others recently after they voted to end AC. No, how about you do your goddam jobs and impeach the ****er. Dont vote for his crap but then act all high and mighty by resigning. **** you to the moon and back. Your job is to hold that mandarin mussolini to account. Not quit so its someone elses problem. Its just one big ****ing con job. Its ****ing disgusting and frankly if democracy survives until the midterms, i hope the republican party is wiped from the ****ing planet. They have totally ****ed the world with their gutless heroics.

I saw Meidas pinpoint it to Mitch McConnell who instructed republicans to vote against impeachment after Jan 6th and say it was the laws job. Its this kind of ****ed in the head lazy incompetency from republican lead congress that is going to result in ww3.

Dont get me started on the people that voted for Trump because they were scared of a vagina.

China is as much of a Democracy as the US.

there are elections in China….

id imagine they are heavily rigged results though so it shows continued support for the president even at local levels. But then again China just disappears people who speak out. So they may not even have to rig anything.

Solid rant .... 8.5/10

Probably won't happen but the UK and France need to start nuclear submarine patrols of Greenland, and if the USA tries anything sink one of their aircraft carriers.

Doesn't even have to be that much, just need to bloody their nose a little. A few dead American servicemen that Donnie ordered onto foreign soil.

Something that shocks the American people as to how ****ing stupid and self-inflicted this whole thing is. As pathetic as it's been so far, some groundswell of domestic pressure at home is still the probably the best hope.

Appeasement and just rolling out the red carpet is the worst option though.

Yes that is what I am thinking, sort of a "we are serious right now, we are not going to get walked over" and it may be enough for the American public to go "what the ****, we are potentially going to war with Britain and France"

It will make it feel more real for Americans, which right now I don't think they think it is since they are so detached from it.

its a good idea on principle but they have to strike first. Hitting first is seen as the aggressor and therefor it invokes national patriotism in the victim. However punching back stronger after being hit will invoke rage from nationals who are wondering why their military are being killed and what are they doing there in the first place.

If there are US Navy ships in the area a warning can be put out saying not to enter the territorial waters of Greenland, and the first USN ship that enters gets torpedoed.

Of course this is only if enough ships are amassing that it looks like it may be an invasion.

"Might = Right" means Europe would be the Nazi Empire, and we'd be the Mining Quadrant of the Japanese Empire.
We'd be US vassals which would be......oh no wait, this is great and fine. Don't nationalise any resources, you'll be like that dictator Whitlam

Well an actual invasion is different.

Movies: With great power comes great responsibility
Real Life USA: With great power, take as much as you can get your hands on, squash anyone who gets in your way like a bug

I think Australia should be very worried. We are the greenland of the pacific and the exact same arguments for greenland apply to us. We are a mining dream, minerals everywhere. Its not as far fetched that the china and usa may both fight for us on australian soil as we may have once thought.

This was also where I was going

People talk about illegitimate elections yet never mention Russia or China whose parties somehow both achieve 95%+ for one party

Us Vessels have reportedly taken Bella 1.
Naval flash point/stand off incoming.
See who blinks first.

That's the one they painted a Russian flag on and changed the paperwork, lol.

Im putting my flag in the ground now

The US should not takeover/annexe/militarily control Greenland in any shape or form

I will condemn them for any action done to do this. There is NO reason at all to do this

Any false flag operation will be treated as such
