But which players in the comp averaged 1.78 + fend-offs, 1.12+ goals and 1.24 + meals with chopsticks per week in 2023?Phoned it in all year
It was impressiveCherry Picker working overtime!
picking from the master picker.
picker has to continue to pick select seasons, as just like Richmond, outside of a good window, nothing strong really.DG you're a good man, I like you a lot - but you're arguing that a 3x Norm Smith Medalist isn't that much. Just take a step back and have a bit of a think. It was impressivepicking from the master picker.
The reality is that Dusty didn't actually have a slow finish to his career, those seasons were basically on par with his pre 2017 form.
He best PlaYa RaTInG season pre 2017 was 13.4!!
Dusty was a 1-1.2 goal per game, 8 CP player for majority of his career, who had a purple patch.
It was a ****ing great purple patch, but the other 2/3rds of his career was nothing special. Hence a career PlayARaTinGs avg less than Rory Sloane.
Help explains why the cherrypicker has to continue to pick select seasons, as just like Richmond, outside of a good window, nothing strong really.

Sure, of course.Yep.
Because multiple Norm Smith Medals automatically place you amongst the best to have ever played the game...
Multiple Norm Smith Medallists:
Martin
W. Ashcroft
Hodge
McLeod
Ayres
Here are some players who never won a Norm Smith Medal:
G. Ablett Jnr
Franklin
Carey
Matthews
Lockett
Dunstall
Voss
Dangerfield
The latter 8 players are all comfortably ahead of the former 5 in the GOAT rankings.
You need to take a closer look.Sure, of course.
That wasn't my argument though, I just said he'd be your GOAT. Not the AFLs GOAT.
Everything comes back to Martin...I've missed the last 20 pages - how did we get onto talking about Martin on a Collingwood rebuild thread?
Ohh that's what you were getting at.You need to take a closer look.
He's behind Coventry x 2, Collier x 2, Pendlebury and Buckley.
With Daicos to overtake him by the time he's 26 or so.
Where do you rate Matthews in the GOAT standings, given he played in an era where players were part time at best and held down full time jobs?Ohh that's what you were getting at.
Yeah I forgot you blokes rate players who dominated a closed suburban league. Like old mate who kicks 125 for Balwyn or Vermont these days.
Maybe slightly more relevant, but not much.
He's the greatest ever up until Carey, Lockett and Senior.Where do you rate Matthews in the GOAT standings, given he played in an era where players were part time at best and held down full time jobs?
Based on your rationale above, would he squeeze into your top 50?
Na Chippa.DG you're a good man, I like you a lot - but you're arguing that a 3x Norm Smith Medalist isn't that much. Just take a step back and have a bit of a think.
picker ignores full career stats, and full Richmond results to instead isolate small selective cherry picked windows where they were good.
picker.Do the likes of Reynolds, Bunton and Coleman get a look in to your top 10?He's the greatest ever up until Carey, Lockett and Senior.
I have him 4th all-time.
CareyDo the likes of Reynolds, Bunton and Coleman get a look in to your top 10?
But how can you include Reynolds, Bunton and Coleman when they 'only dominated a closed suburban league'?Carey
Lockett
Ablett
Matthews
Michael
Farmer
Franklin
Dunstall
Coleman
Jr
Bunton
Reynolds
Judd
Around the mark.
The Richmond rebuild was mentioned, then retiring players, then it spiralled into the usual crap.I've missed the last 20 pages - how did we get onto talking about Martin on a Collingwood rebuild thread?

Please get help Meow, you clearly can't move on. It's a Pies rebuild forum, not a DMPTSD support group.Pendlebury has been good and durable enough to still be a top-4 side's 2nd most important midfielder in 2025 aged about 40.
Dangerfield aged 35 finally moved out of a full time midfield gig in 2025 (Martin did in 2021 aged 30) and had 60 goals + assists. Martin had 18 in his last season aged 33.
Others such as Cameron, Stewart, Blicavs, Sidebottom, Elliot and Crisp have aged better than the movers and shakers from Richmond land veterans. If you flipped those trends it probably is true that Geelong and Collingwood would be in a much steeper rebuild now, while Richmond would be trying to contend.
It is a very important factor for deciding whether to tear the joint down or not.
Why do you also have DMPTSD Cobber? Maybe start a support group with Meow and Fadge. In 2023 Martin kicked the last soft goal of the game, when it was all over, a whopping 6 times
That sort of thing doesn't go unnoticed by the AA panel
DMPTSD is starting soon Dopey. It was impressivepicking from the master picker.

They can't let go of 1901-1939....they've been the 7th most successful team in the 85-years from 1940-2025....it's no wonder they revere those who played decades before they were born.Ohh that's what you were getting at.
Yeah I forgot you blokes rate players who dominated a closed suburban league. Like old mate who kicks 125 for Balwyn or Vermont these days.

his heart never got out of bed
Entire career stats...every single game they've ever played.Na Chippa.
Just saying that Richmond and Dusty both had a very impressive purple patch, a 4 year period.
Outside of that period, Martin didn't stand-out, and Richmond were ordinary.
Hence the cherrypicker ignores full career stats, and full Richmond results to instead isolate small selective cherry picked windows where they were good.
Or random 1.2 and 14.5 triggers or classification as "mid-forward" to not compare Dusty with ALL players.
It is impressive stuff from thepicker.
