I will be very surprised if we go back to the good old days of petrol rationing.

Should we refine our own fuel? Yes. Do we? No. Should we actually keep a decent storage volume like we said we would? Yes. Do we? No.

We never actually ran out of toilet paper. People had 900 rolls stacked up at home that probably still haven't got through and retailers ran out because the country functions on long distance logistics.

Some servos that are cheap will run out of fuel for periods, but there will still be fuel. Just had a look and ULP and diesel are both still under $2/L. That will be $2.50 soon whether justified or not. And given everything sold in supermarkets arrives in a diesel powered truck well you know what's coming.

Will it actually change anyone's behaviour? Doubt it.
Or we could just transition to EVs and leave the remaining oil for ships, heavy industry and planes.

Our freight budget at work skyrocketed and the fuel allowance for people on the road just jumped 30% or so. I'm fortunate that I work just 12km from home. I saw Germany are discounting public transport by 90% or something to help out.
Melbourne will increase it 90%.

Matt Canavan was born in 1980. While he believably looks like a man in his 40s I could've sworn he was born in the 1950s.
I thought his name was Matt Caravan and thought how appropriate with the housing crisis

50c bus fares in Brisbane are really going to bite the council/state.

Was sleeping and a loud bang woke me up. But was the loud noise part of the dream thus that was the end of the dream. Or did the noise happen in the real world and I've stirred awake because of it ?

Australia won't full transition to EVs for decades if ever.

When I was in QLD I saw many EV charging stations (guessing supply and demand based on the areas and how many EVs that there were in carparks.

I did a quick google search for EV charging stations, none in my local area, but a few in surrounding locations.

I’ve got an EV, wouldn’t go back to a normal car now

The main problem with EVs in WA is that outside Perth and the SW they are pretty useless.

Run out of petrol/diesel and some kind sandgroper (no Wolf Creek) can help you out. Run out of electrons and you basically need to be towed to the nearest town/roadhouse.
Since 90% of Australia's population live and travel in cities, EVs will do just fine.

and hope they have a charging station. Aren't EVs a lot heavier? Do they need special tow trucks?
