Anyone with half a brain or more knew that North started well ahead of the other two, and has progressed accordingly.

The accurate way to assess our 2021 draft haul is simply by saying:
Brown - above the curve for a pick 17, holding down a best 22 spot look s a very good outcome.
Banks - as above but for pick 29.
Sonsie - below the curve to this point but some encouraging signs in recent weeks. Not strong outlook for a pick 28.
Gibcus - has produced tremendous football for a pick 9 KPP in his first season but had 3 years basically wiped out by freak injuries since. As a KPP would only be expected to win his position from 5th year onwards anyway, next year is his 5th on the list, hopefully gets a full pre-season in and regains his confidence.
Clarke - 2 x ACL's since being drafted after showing encouraging signs. Long way back from here, but not without a realistic chance to make it.
You would have to be pretty desperate for attention to try to claim those as a failed draft crop. But here we are.
Any reassessment needed after the weekend?
Are you happy with your Vlastuin replacement being dropped when Vlastuin is out injured?
He's ok. Low ceiling but I think we can agree it's a pass but not likely to be a major success.
Can't get a game. Surely delisting coming at the end of the year.
The poor bloke can't move. I'm not sure playing him at afl level to be outbodied by an injured Zac Williams for the critical play of the game is doing him any favors.
I hope it's just mental and he can get over it but 9 months on from his VFL return you've got to think that's exceedingly unlikely.
Sad story but 3x ACLs for a small that relies on pace and agility is almost always curtains.
Maybe it's just attention seeking. Or maybe pretending this draft is anything but a massive failure is delusion.
Nobody's saying you should've ended up with all of Nas, Holmes, Curtis, Soligo, Hough and Dempsey which you could have done. And clearly you've had some bad luck in there.
But one ok role player and a bunch who look like they won't make it is a horrendous result 5 years in when you loaded up for that draft.

Coop looks great. Year older than the others so maybe harsh to make the call now, but North picked a good one there. So, would it be accurate to say Trembath is the most promising young KPF of the 3 lists?
It’s early but he’s obviously miles infront of Armstrong and Faull, and comfortably infront of Shanahan, who is looking very promising.
Ironic given the commentary on lack of drafting anyone other than mids
What you're missing is that your first year of assistance was after three bad years in which you had nine wins and a draw from 61 games. We didn't get assistance until after four bad years in which we had eleven wins from 89 games. So yes, our first lot off assistance was better than yours. But by the time we got it, you were getting a second lot. So don't just compare one to the other when they're not the same.In your first year of assistance (we all know you'll need more) you got a first round pick and four rookie spots. We got a couple of later future picks we had to trade for Darcy tucker and Griffin Logue and two rookie spots for two or three seasons.
Lets wait till it all pans out before we compare everything.
So Richmond should get that package this year provided we dont win more than 3 gamesWhat you're missing is that your first year of assistance was after three bad years in which you had nine wins and a draw from 61 games. You would have to win less than 4 games over the next 2 years to be have a similar record to the Eagles? So Richmond should get that package this year provided we dont win more than 3 games
extra 1st rounder and 5 rookie spots would be handy
The north assistance after three years wasn't a first rounder, he's talking about ours. You would have to win less than 4 games over the next 2 years to be have a similar record to the Eagles?
edit: nevermind you mean the north assistance
No, because that would be three years of being shit, not four. Maybe you could argue for the north package. So Richmond should get that package this year provided we dont win more than 3 games

yeah that is why I was confusedThe north assistance after three years wasn't a first rounder, he's talking about ours.
What was Norths package ?No, because that would be three years of being shit, not four. Maybe you could argue for the north package.
You might have to take this with a grain of salt as my memory is sometimes unreliable, but after their third year of being shit they got extra rookie spots and a future second and third rounder that had to be traded. What was Norths package ?
The extra Rookie list spots would be handy just before Tassie enters
The North Melbourne Football Club has been granted an assistance package by the AFL Commission to help improve its on-field performance. This package includes three extra end-of-first-round draft selections spread over two years, as well as the continuation of two additional rookie list spots for the 2024 season. You might have to take this with a grain of salt as my memory is sometimes unreliable, but after their third year of being shit they got extra rookie spots and a future second and third rounder that had to be traded.
After their fourth year of being shit they got an end of first rounder for that year and 2xF1s. None of these had to be traded, but the afl reserved the right to take them back if north improved, so of course they traded them. Ironically the Whitlock pick which cost them their first rounder last year was initially one of their own assistance picks they traded away.
So north have definitely had more assistance than we have had. Of course, it all pales in comparison to what gold coast got in 2019 (pick 1, future mid 1st rounder, future 1st pick of 2nd round, extra rookie spots, an expanded academy zone, and the ability to pre-list academy players without them having to go through the draft/matching process).

Nah, five wins and a draw is still better than five wins. And anyway, one of the bad years I'm counting is worse than any year you've had in nearly a century, so, you know, context.1 of those "bad" years you are counting in your 4 is equal to our best season in the last 6 years....
Context.
Yes but that's what they got after four years of being bottom 2, not three. Their 2022 assistance package was much worse. The North Melbourne Football Club has been granted an assistance package by the AFL Commission to help improve its on-field performance. I would be happy with that for Richmond after 3 years of being bottom 2/3/4
We won 1 game before receiving ours dude…1 of those "bad" years you are counting in your 4 is equal to our best season in the last 6 years....

That was after four years of being bottom two, going thru two coaches, two spare coaches and the racism scandal ****ing up Clarkson in his first season. The North Melbourne Football Club has been granted an assistance package by the AFL Commission to help improve its on-field performance. hence why I don't see Richmond receiving any. It took us a 1-win season to get anything. North were closer to folding than finals before getting theirsThat was after four years of being bottom two, going thru two coaches, two spare coaches and the racism scandal ****ing up Clarkson in his first season.
Yeah even if Richmond go winless - you can’t win 3 premierships and then get priority picks within a decade of your last one.hence why I don't see Richmond receiving any. It took us a 1-win season to get anything. North were closer to folding than finals before getting theirs
Shanahan has now grown to 198cm, FYI.I think the Shanahan vs Faul/Armstrong will be a really intriguing journey. All of them are 195cm but Shanahan seems to have the two Tigers covered atm with greater natural size. This will even out as time goes by.
I haven't seen enough of Shanahan to really say much more but I have liked both Armstrong's and Faul's attack on the ball. Jonty had plenty of shots on last year demonstrating he can win the ball and score.
I am hopeful of what the two Tigers will be able to do in a couple of seasons when they get the bigger, stronger bodies. They already attack the footy so that doesn't need to be encouraged or coached into them, but their stamp on the game should go to the next level with greater size.
Admittedly, Shanahan should get bigger too which will undoubtedly aid his development.
That's big.Shanahan has now grown to 198cm, FYI.
Huge unit.
Yeah.That's big.
