Strange post. May as well get games into Faull? He is desperately needed not to get games into, but because he offers a target, plays tough, runs and competes.

How are Fawcett and Alger not in calculations. Miles above in the VFL, in real form, Lynch goes out and Fawcett is as close to Lynch as we have on the list, and Algar's game was as good as you will get in the VFL. Green's 2 kicks and 5 handballs keeping him out?

KMac is straight back in period.

Ryan fit? He just joined full training a week ago and missed the whole preseason. Will play limited minutes in the VFL.
As of 23 March. Ryan has Been declared available. "Deciding on which level to play". "Nank injured no real other options. Maybe ae well play AFL level .

Fawcett and Alger been been behind others all preseason and first few rounds. I wanted Faull to go and get goal kicking practise down a level. Now. Win losses are not the issue.

I reckon they go with Faull over Fawcett

Ryan yes available, doesn't mean he is in consideration for AFL. One week one the track makes you available to play, Serpell has already said on limited minutes. Ryan has shown to be barely AFL standard fully fit, as bad as throwing him to the wolves when they played him in his first game.

Fawcett and Algar have not been behind all preseason, both were standouts on the track all summer. Yes they went with Faull and Armstrong because they have good potential. I'm sure Faull has been doing goal kicking practice, but he runs, presents and plays with aggression that Armstrong needs to do but is not physical enough to do right now.

Armstong had 4 disposals on the weekend. Took a nice mark but that was it. If anyone needs to go back and find form it is Armstrong because right now he is being gifted games. Fawcett showed that he can play in the VFL, took some great marks and played with aggression, just what we need to cover Lynch.

And Algar game was pure class, miles above anything that any of our small forwards has come even close to in the VFL, including Campbell.

Faull over Armstrong, Fawcett for Lynch. Algar for Green or whomever they might squeeze out like Brown or Trezise.

Doesn't look like he cares much at all this year. Take away his kick outs and he barely touched it on the back of last week's slop. Might as well move him up the ground, try something?

Just seems like a nothing player at this point. Will be dropped for Broad if he returns this week

He may not make it but I don’t think he’s being helped by his role or lack of right now. Thrown around v GC and our lowest TOG this week, presumably because Broad/Vlastuin/Trainor are taking his minutes. Let him get some form up in the 2s playing a proper position rather than bringing him into the team and not playing him.

I am having a look at Brown amongst others in a replay.

to me he has improved, I am seeing green shoots. he is looking fitter and more agile.

I think this is the secret possibly with Brown. He needs to improve agility and fitness and the further improvement for him and the team could be significant. He does not need to be Grlj obviously but if he goes in that direction I think big improvements in his game and team involved could be achieved. Does not need to be quicker necessarily just maybe a bigger running base, cause he has the size already and footy skills. does not need a bigger running base to play a wing role necessarily I am just talking/observing in general IMO on how I think his game could go to another level competively

the other thing is if Brown gets fitter/aerobically again it will improve his connection in theory with the likes of Trainor, Grlj as well as other teammates for us.

Maybe he has been complacent because he has been fairly well skilled and has pedigree. Maybe he is not aware his game could go to another level with run and ball carry, nothing exceptional, just moving the curve a little, changing it up, being less predictable and connecting better with the likes of Grlj and Trainor amongst others. i think this is probably a better development path for Brown from my observation than taking on the big boppa's and putting on size. Maybe get on his bike a little bit more at times like Banks maybe, it will possible open up other roles for him in other areas of the ground to

obviously I am not saying his is not fit, but if he got fitter, ran more, if possible, showing more energy he would be a more threatening proposition and his disposition on the footy field most likely would be more feared

his competitiveness has been frustrating at times. would prefer him taking short's role to leverage his elite kick

i think he appears a bit too stand-offish at times.

just needs to get closer to some of the opposition forwards sometimes just to show a bit more presence and exert a bit more pressure psychologically. i think this may come with more fitness and energy increasing his own confidence/belief if the cause and effect becomes more positive. with more movement others have to consider something else in their vision

sometimes we have a plus one in defence, that gets negated a little when movement is negated. Trainor and Grjl gets more attention simply because they get around a little bit more, and other avenues, puts pressure on forwards rather than them thinking about kicking goals against us. So its more about motion rather than the need to be Gout Gout as well as team connection and helping others play better in our team

I like Brown i think can play the game, but i'm not sure he's a defender.
What would people think about playing him on the wing?
He can run, good in the air, nice kick that i think our forwards would love leading towards (our entries into our forward line could do with an upgrade) could kick a goal, and defend a little when required.
I feel that there are few players that play that defensive roll, but for me i haven't seen anyone claim the wing spots as yet.

I agree he has the attributes for the wing more than the backline.
Same with Banks.

Tom has time on his side, but does he have the will?

the game has changed whether we like it or not. I would rather in not be more a game about athletes but it is what it is trend wise at the moment.

I think for Tom the bottom line is taking a mark and disposing well is not necessarily enough. Not asking Tom to bust himself, but it looks like he is leaner. If he gets fitter, more aerobic and moves around more in a smart way more doors could open for him( not that I am in any kind of inner circle, just an observation of strengths/weaknesses/trends/team setup etc) and it could be a catalyst for him to progress even further. The other thing is Grjl and Trainor do their thing and are improving, no matter where they play, more motion and connection helps them play as well so the broader team improves. If Tom can move more, without breaking the speed barrier, this is under his control a little? Might get more confidence with more positive results to because if is not happening on the field, roadblocks eventuate to all players no matter who they are. If Tom improves in different areas he could be considered for other roles most likely

The issue is he can't run. He's quick but he can't run 15km a game like Hugo.

We had three or four of the top kilometres run last week v Freo.
Because they were always chasing.
More prudent to have the ball in hand and run 11km.
Most overrated stat ever.

And we were so quick to burn Brandon Ellis. Didn’t realise how good we had it lol
