I only had to consult the sauce in my fridge. Heinz had no direct contacts but he could read the room
Is your sauce's first name 'Gordon' by any chance?

The Victorian Football League has today announced a 43-player Smithy’s VFL State Team squad ahead of next week’s clash with the SANFL in Gather Round.

Two Geelong VFL stars have been included in the squad, including vice-captain Marcus Herbert and new recruit Will White.

Herbert has been a mainstay of the Cats' VFL program for a number of years, impressing with his elite skills and decision-making en-route to taking out Geelong's Best and Fairest in 2025.

White joined Geelong ahead of the 2026 season after a year on Carlton's AFL list, already proving how damaging he can be averaging 16.5 disposals and two goals per game across the opening two weeks.

The 43-player squad announced today features representatives from 16 VFL clubs. Current AFL-listed players are not eligible to be selected, while players who are injured or unavailable were not included in the squad.

Jeez Jyhe Clarke is stiff. I genuinely thought he has been having a cracking and playing really well.

I would say its more about getting him a full game in the vfl fitness wise rather than the lower minutes he has been playing in afl.

In a way I wish we fielded last week's team this week, it would have provided a large amount of insight about the difference between a stand alone VFL team vs a team full of multiple well above replacement players concentrated predominantly in the midfield and behind the ball. AFL reserves teams are really inconsistant as the best players move between the two teams. It is hard to read how good/poor Essendon and Hawthorn truely were.

A midfield with

Stanley
Bowes
Worpel
Stevens
Knveitt

Is outrageously strong at VFL level. At this time of the year they're also still in decent condition and full of motivation as well.

With Bews and Kolodjashnij behind the ball, you're getting heaps of intercept power and drive from D50.

Interesting to see Hoff list in the guts.

I know... means nothing.... but will watch with intersest

He has been named there in all 3 selected teams this year, but never played anywhere other than hbf. Same as Knevitt at FF and Bews on ball, same selection each week but in play Knevitt has been on ball and Bews in the backline. But it would be interesting to see him upfield, his last game was excellent.

Also we are missing a key forward (Polkinghorne) and a key back in (Annand)

I just checked the teams. Emerson Jeka is playing for Werribee. Anyone remember his short stay at Geelong? What a dud he was.

He was a bit of an enigma like Krueger. In that he'd do so much right and look an AFL player then his focus or effort would drop it is was like he really didn't want to be on a football field as a professional

fighting the geoblock AFL rights issues right now....
Will be killing some people

It even says AFL and AFLW games are subjuect to broadcast rights.... go to Watchafl.com.au.

Which I have...

But it does not cover VFL games....

****wits.
