I've noticed that Helene Bender is stepping down from the board, leaving it an exclusively male domain should Costa's ticket get elected. This does concern me a little. I'm not sure its wise that the board doesn't have at least some representation outside of the typical board director stereotype - eg older male european. Having such a profile risks being rather blinkered in the boards outlook. And no, I don't want that Rennie woman elected.

Doesn't Frank fit that category ?

Thankfully the GF win has seen that mad cow put out to pasture

BWhahhahahahaha Cant help and think of Doug wade and his accordion. :thumbsu::D

Personally I want people on the board who can get the job done. If a suitible cantidate comes along, I don't care if they are male, female, black, white, pink blue or whatever.

One thing I do not support is tokenism, no matter how prevalent and PC it is these days.

Thats so true, but that said i would like to see a younger person on the board, Having a few more younger peoples ideas also.:thumbsu:

They all fit that category. I agree that there is no room for tokenism, but a different perspective is required, I've mentioned women, bdp mentioned someone younger. If all the board members come from pretty much the same background, then they will tend think the same way. For example when it comes to major items such as the new stands, are they as well heeled money men, they are probably more likely to think that everyone is happy to pay for expensive seats with a high level of luxury. (I miss the old days of standing on the wing)

But then you also get females like the one on the AFL board who come up with some of the stupidest suggestions i've ever heard so she can justify her position as more than tokenism. Remember the 'Up There Cazaly' is dated statement?

It's getting to the point where it will be a prerequisite to have at least one female, one black person, one homosexual, one disabled person, one under 35 and one member of a marginalized religious group on every board so we can be seen to be 'inclusive'

Or we could just take care of it all in one fell swoop, by including a 30 yo Black Lesbian amputee who has decided to become a muslim.
