Black, Lappin, Power, Johnstone, Adcock, Notting, Rischitelli, Stiller, Sherman, Hooper, Corrie, Begley, MacDonald.

Then we've got Harding, Proud, Schmidt, Hawksley, Kiel etc developing well in the ressies.

Not bad that...

Especially with Charman and Leuenberger feeding them the ball.

Fair call.

There aren't even 9 Midfield Positions...

If you think players are told to go out play "Ruck Rover" like its 1986 then you've got rocks in your head. There are a fleet of running mids, backed up by specialist KPP and rucks. A team needs to be able to put about 10 blokes on the field who can run with. Scotland, Walker, Hadley etc are midfielders who are playing a more defensive game from etc.

Not around here anyway.

Still nothing out of you? Surely you can find some pithy, frivolous, bromidic, asinine aspersion to muck rake about this site. I see it has become your past time as the reality of the Saints entrenched mediocrity sets in.

Man you're going to look so stupid when you lose. Blues last for six years, with you taking the benefit of draft picks, and still not a brass razoo.

Talk it up champ - your half way to China.

out with the thesaurus again i see

How many are Carlton going to have on the field at once

Who gets dropped from your Rd 22 side to allow these in?

Aisake, Hampson, Judd, Stevens, Hadley, Kreuzer

You raise a good point, Bentick will probably be dropped.

Only one of Aisake, Hampson and Kreuzer would be selected one would imagine. Probably leaning towards Aisake if he can capture his pre injury form of 07.

The others are more difficult though, all I can say is, it's finally good to have depth

i wouldn't say that you have depth yet. there are still spuds like houlihan and saddington in the team and no-one can predict that your young kp will be in good enough form to warrant selection. factor in injuries and i would still say that the blues are lacking in depth

There is nothing wrong with Houlihan, he shutdown players like McLeod last year and check some 02 youtube vids to see what to expect from him next year.

We definitely have depth coming through, whether or not the young guys will be ready in 08 as you said is unknown.

Long way off there mate.

Not because of depth, he is just shit.

You're kidding yourself right? Saint will be better than Carlton for at least the next three years.

This thread is ridiculous :thumbsd:

 Ahhh, yeah, all those tricky words ???!

It may have something to do with the fact that it doesn't make sense. How can something set in if it is already entrenched?

Also someone with the level of intelligence to suggest that 'Carlton will be one of the slickest units going around' is clearly not so well versed in rhetoric.

How much perceived depth did Hawthorn have as of Jan 07?

Carlton is realistically not as advanced as Hawthorn though, answer my first question and you may know where I'm coming from. I don't expect Carlton to make the 8 next year, it will just be nice to know that if someone like Cloke goes down with an injury we will not be forced to play Ackland when he is clearly below par, or be forced to play Setanta in the ruck when he is clearly no ruckman.

Stevens went down last year and our midfield fell apart, now with the inclusion of Judd + 12months experience to players like Murphy and Carrazzo they should handle it a lot better

Prior to this we have been forced to play people just because we have had nobody else, now we will have players to fill voids.

Anyway I'm not here to boast becuase it's basically just a glorified wankfest and belongs on the Carlton board, but I will defend the club when people have little idea on what they're talking about

Carlton's midfield are off-season specialists. Best off-season midfield on BF for the past 5 years.

You never hear about them once March starts though.

When?

Honestly, it's amazing how players can improve in the offseason without having played a game. Hell, I'm starting to think Nick Stevens is a monty for a Brownlow and AA selection (but then I remember he can't even win a B&F at Carlton :o)

You've got it all wrong. Kennedy's ranking automatically goes up because he's no longer at the Blues. Whereas Carlton players, regardless of ability, always seem to have worsened during the off-season. Case in point: Walker, Simpson. Guess it's expected when a team has as little success as we have, although I'm sure you being a St Kilda supporter you don't need anyone to tell you that.

Carlton will make a move up the ladder in 2008, barring injury. Not top 4, but top 8 isn't outside the realms of possibility, while anything under 10th should be seen as a disappointment. The natural progression of the vast majority of our list given its age, the addition of experienced players in Stevens (playing second fiddle to Judd could see him return to pre-Carlton form), Judd (will make a huge impact on the mindset of the playing list and our kids, not to mention his on field ability) and Hadley (no star, but a solid, experienced player - played 14 games last year so should be better 2nd year after knee reco) should definitely see marked improvement. Having a coach willing to adopt a modern gameplan and appearing to have the full support of the playing group can only be further beneficial.

Houlihan, Aisake, Hampson, Walker, Gibbs, Judd, Stevens, Hadley, Kreuzer

With the poor list management, plethora of developing kids, and Martian game plan from pagan the last few years have been about stopping the haemorrhaging .

Most of the guys have been playing well out of position, well above their years, and costing us dearly through performing other jobs and not being allowed delivering on their specialist skills set.

We all know the value of Gibbs, Walker, Judd, Stevens, Hadley, houlihan being injected straight into a midfield.....but a bit more speculative, yet with potentially even greater returns are Hampson, Aisake and Kreuzer.

This is eight players all of whom are highly regarded prospects, number one picks, or flat out guns to deliver to a completely revamped forward and back structure. An almost unheard of turnaround and could prove to be one of the slickest combinations going around in 2008.
What an absolute load of trash. Houlihan is a joke and wouldnt make many teams best 22. Gibbs hasnt proven anything and now many people dont rate him at all due to his average first season compared to the hype over the kid. Walker needs to fix up his disposal before considered a very good player. Has good attributes, but being an athlete instead of a footballer is costing the Carlton FC as his disposal is woeful. Hadley has had 2 knee reco's so he is 50-50. Solid player before he got injured but dont discount the affects of the two knee reco's. Steven's is a b+ player and obviously Judd is a gun. Wont have the same silver service though that he had at West Coast.
Hampson, Aisake, and Kruezer are relative unknowns so I cant pass comment on them. Midfield seems to be building up nicely as Carlton fans love to repeat, but at this stage it is still one of the weakest in the AFL. One injury away to Judd from being the definition of mediocrity again. Still a couple of years before Carlton can challenge for the 8.

Just playing for Carlton is worth 10 B&F's playing for the saints. What a scum bag team JD just like you.

No probs Firey:)
I am taking a fair punt you are the parrot that supports the blues and is constantly on the tigers board. I am saying this because of pretty much everyone of your last posts being about the blues, and bagging out the Tigers.. If this is the case, you really deserve to be a Carlton fan, Cheating your way through the internet.

Prove me wrong.

PS good pickup on his need to have the thesaurus bookmarked.
