Horrible horrible crash at Macau in the bikes.

British Rider Dan Hegarty lost control on the run into : Fishermans bend " ( Fast downhill right hander )
A marshall was filming and captured the accident ( video was quickly deleted ) but for some reason it appears the back end locked up and stepped out , then grabbed traction and spat him off through the air into the catch fence.

Some VERY shoddy camera work showed an unconcious Mr Hegarty lying on the track sans helmet

:(

So, so sad. The internet has lit up over the coverage of the race/incident. A lot (rightly) complaining that what they've seen shouldn't have been seen and now can never be unseen. After seeing a number of riders killed over the years, I know what they mean.

He leaves behind a wife and two sons. My condolences to them.
Can't imagine the despair of his team. His teammate was also killed at the Ulster GP only in August.

R.I.P. Dan Hegarty.

Adelaide Motorsport Festival on here next weekend. Has been moved out of season so some big names are venturing down to drive some pretty special cars.

Lowndes, Tander, Waters, Bowe, Slade, Hazelwood and Joe 'Father of Dan' Riccardo driving whilst Troy Bayliss will be riding his WSBK winning Ducati.

8 F1 cars from various eras, ATCC cars of the past and the FXX made famous by Michael Schumacher on Top Gear.

Should be a massive event.

We're gonna need pics mate :thumbsu:

Last week. While all of you were watching the last supercar round. I was at Phillip island watching the island magic meeting.

We know at this level. If you've got a car, but it's not eligible for any class, it gets chucked in the sports sedans. So this guy in the Subaru has been in SS for a few years running at the back, like a SS version of a Forti. It's pretty much a track day for him instead of a race.

Well, at PI on Sunday. It was pissing down for most of the day. So it's it's a field full of amateurs running mainly 500hp SS or old V8 Supercars...and it's wet. What do you think happened

Ol' mate in the 4wd Scooby. Went from the back of the grid to 3rd in the five lap heat. The in the big final trophy race, when it wasn't raining but still wet, he pulled off a huge win! By 15 secs or so. He didn't even have to pass for the lead. Running second, the leader in a v8sc spun off a T2 on the first lap. It was incredible to see, a d worth mentioning on this board.

Their social media person is on point too , suss the FB page

Troy Bayliss has announced that at age 48 he still has some unfinished business and will contest next year's Australian Superbike Championship...
Spoke to him Sunday at the Motorsport Festival here, said something similar. He was ringing the neck of his Superbike all weekend, seems a mini test session

The Dakar rally is 6 stages in and the bikes category is very interesting 3 marques filling the top 3 positions. Honda currently lead with Kevin Benavides, followed by Yamaha mounted Adrien van Bevern with Austrian Matthias Walkner the first KTM in third place. Joan Barreda Bort sits fourth for Honda with Toby Price rising up the leaderboard and into 5th place on his KTM, just under 10 minutes behind the leader. TP has been riding conservatively so far, expect him to pick up the pace in the second half of the rally after tomorrow's rest day.

Also racing is veteran Aussie Rodney ******ter in an impressive 18th place on his Yamaha.

43 year old Scott Britnell is riding his first Dakar and doing it the hard way, completely solo, mechanicing for himself on top of riding. He currently sits an impressive 77th of the 110 competitors remaining.

Sadly, reigning champion Sam Sunderland was forced to retire with a back injury. He hit a big unseen hole and despite not even crashing, he squashed two discs in his back which put pressure on his spinal column and caused him to lose feeling in his legs. Fortunately he appears to be recovering quickly and there is no talk of permanent damage.

It was a BIG hidden hole too, poor bloke.

Loeb and most of the Toyotas are out of the car section too

Hard to say, I have had the opportunity to drive on a custom simulator and it was good fun through the middle.

Huge drama for the bikes in stage 10 of the Dakar with many of the leaders - including Price, Meo, Barreda and Benavides - getting lost and dropping massive time thus likely tumbling out of contention. Price dropped approximately 50 minutes behind the leader, falling to 5th place. And even more dramatic is the untimely demise of the leading rider, Adrien Van Beveren, who crashed 3kms from the finish and suffered a broken collarbone and injuries to his thorax and spine. Hopefully it's nothing too major and he can make a quick recovery.

Price KTM teammate Matthias Walkner is now the new race leader.

After the disaster of stage 10, Price bounced back to take stage 11 and leap into 3rd place in the standings.

Yamaha pack horse and sole remaining rider, Rodney ******er, finished a solid 16th overnight to move into 18th overall.

So the Dakar Rally has been run and won with Austrian Matthias Walkner winning his first and continuing KTMs streak which now reaches 17 in a row. Honda finish second with Kevin Benavides taking out the final stage with Toby Price returning from injury to take second on the final stage and a strong third place overall.
Rodney Faggo+ter came a credible 16th in the final standings for Yamaha and Scott Britnell finished 61st in his rookie campaign in the gruelling malle-moto unassisted class.
Also, I just realised that former Grand Prix racer, Jurgen van den Goorbergh was racing and finished 41st overall on his home built KTM.
