This guy just needs to be on our list.
Not sayin' he walks into Mitchell's spot but it's just crazy that we don't take a shot on him given our list. And with Sam to coach him...

-23 years old (mature body), averages +20 possies/game

* 2013 Murray Bushrangers Captain
* 2015 VFL Premiership Player
* 2015 Norm Goss Medal – VFL Grand Final Best on Ground
* 2016 J.J Liston Medal – VFL Best & Fairest
* 2016 Frank Johnson Medal – VFL State Team Best on Ground
* 2016, 2017 & 2018 VFL Team of the Year
* 2017 VFL State Team Representative
* 2017 JJ Liston Medal – Runner Up
* 2018 Wiliamstown Gerry Callahan Medallist (Best & Fairest Winner)
* 2018 J.J Liston Medal - VFL Best & Fairest

If nothing else, would be a great addition for Box Hill

And it will make my day to get one back on Bolts if we grab him from under Carlton's nose.

What’s the knock on this guy, keeps getting overlooked, is he slow, poor disposal, not professional, maybe he’s just a flog, must be something.

I’d suggest kicking is an issue based on the handful of videos I watched of him. But I’ll defer to regular vfl watchers on this one :)

Also short. But reasonable pace and handball seemed good. You d say he is a midfielder more than a forward but could he be that at afl?

Watched him a bit - pretty much spot on there Bris, it's his disposal. He's a good accumulator, great in the guts but unreliable with his disposal and that hasn't changed too much for his entire VFL career.

Sorta like Dangerfield then. Get him. Future Brownlow medallist.

Would the fact it’s always windy down Willy hurt his chances? His disposal eff may improve at AFL grounds.

Big wraps on him, think we have an inflated view of him due to the media pundits throwing his name around heaps. Will come with a lot of expectation, think Hawthorn will go with someone out of left field and unexpected.

Give Cousins, Worpel and Howe ample opportunities to rotate in the middle and set our midfield group with mix of experience ( Tom Jom Shiels) and youth for the next 4-5 years to dominate.

Starting to look like 208 cm ruckman Ned Reeves will be the guy... son of Justin Reeves, our CEO.... cronyism is alive and well...
Are you saying there are better options out there? He was already training with the club before mitchell’s Injury so don’t imagine a decision to recruit him is anything other than part of an overall list management plan.

The odds of landing an afl ready midfielder out of the state leagues who is better than anyone on our list is remote. :thumbsu:

I have not issue with picking him up if they think they can turn him into a player

Big guys take a long time but he's shown some good skills in front of goal and when the ball is on the ground and he's a massive lump of a lad

You can complain that we aren't picking up VFL mids but neither are any of the other clubs for whatever reason (usually speed and size)

while we need more mids we most certainly need more talls, and talls are harder to get without early picks so I don't mind a bit of cronyism if it leads to getting a decent tall prospect on the list

If anything, given he was on Box Hills list last year, but played elsewhere (St Kevin’s?) You could make an argument we’ve hid him away, and are now getting him for FREE.

Now, I’m not making that argument, but if I worked at the Hawks, had a son who was a speculative talent, desperate to get there.... it’s how I would do it.

The fact that he was training with our club in the first place makes my point. I don't really care, I was just pointing out that it still helps to have Dad in charge at the football club if you want to get a crack at it. I wish him all the best and hope he can contribute something to our football club.

Not complaining at all, not fussed who we take. I merely was pointing out that having dad be CEO of a football club is a big leg up. Blokes tall and has a favourable surname, no skin off my nose.

It worked with Cegs.

Fill me in?

See my response immediately above your post,

Interesting, I didn't know that. There always has to be some balance struck between outright cronyism and playing ability.
