Why do you get free reign to insult anyone who doesn't agree with your opinions?

I dont have Bews in my best 22. I think he is a very limited 6/10 player who has reached his cap.

When you have the likes of Blicavs, Kolo and Henry in the backline, none of whom has good disposal it makes it hard to carry Bews as well.

Maybe when a side actually has a gun small forward I might pick Bews, certainly wouldn't play him every week unless he improves considerably over last season.
You could well be wrong on this one.
Would have thought Bews was your sort of player.
Every team needs at least 1 of him

I think I’ve seen a photo of him being tackled by Tom Stewart, and I think he’s popped up in a training montage video. Fairly certain he’s training with the main group.
I'd be shocked if he wasn't back in full training, considering he returned to footy near the end of last year.

Interested in your term "chip scab".
You obviously present it as some kind of criticism.
If you are referring to possessions that don't go to an opposition player, then I'm struggling to see how it is a negative.
Especially since the obvious alternative would be rushing the ball forward to a 50/50 or worse.

a chip scab is a person who just kicks to a free player who isnt really in a beneficial position, its the constant kicking backwards and sideways

people with good skills can move the ball quickly to advantage (allowing for more goal scoring opportunities)

chip scabs allow the opposition to setup defensively then you are forced to kick defensively (to a 50/50 or along the boundary line)

our gameplan is basically chip, chip, chip, chip, chip, chip, chip, chip, chip, bomb it to hawkins

or the finals version chip,(no players free) kick to the boundary, turnover

I guess I'm bias cos I like Bews, and I know his stats would of been shit last year, and he does need a bit of improvement but you've gotta have a look at the team he's playing in.
I know some people get upset if you don't call all AFL players courageous heroes but really Bews was the only person standing in front of blokes taking the hits at times, some of these other big boys just wouldn't do it.
I think we need him in the team.

You can't fault his endeavour and intensity and I can see why supporters are enamoured by him. However no clubs are carrying small defenders with poor foot skills … that is the overarching issue.

He'd be exposed badly with his lack of footy IQ and clumsiness. He also has a poor aerobic engine so is no chance to ever figure there …

Footy IQ?....
Clumsiness? ... Wouldn't be much of a defender if clumbsy.
His aerobic capacity would have to be pretty reasonable playing on fast clever small forwards.
I'd be surprised if he couldn't play that role from a physical standpoint.

Exactly, and Champion Data concur with his Below Average rating. Coughs it up, loses his feet and has a habit of giving away soft frees with inexplicable acts of klutziness.

Apart from the fact that you need small defenders to play alongside talls, the three mentioned as having poor disposal actually do not.
Blicavs: 82.09 DE, second best in 2018; Kolo: 78.59, 7th best; and Henry: 71.61.
I'm not a huge fan of statistics, but my own observation that they have quite good disposal is actually backed up in this case.
Even Bews himself has a DE of over 75%.
Lonergan had high DE despite being a terrible user. Just kicked it sideways or backward to loose men. Any time he needed to pick out a man up field it was very very dicey. So much so at the end of his career opposition coaches would leave him open from our kick ins.

He also has the habit of kicking it just in an awkward enough position that his wide open target could get it... But was then under immediate pressure or hemmed in to the boundary with limited room or options... Which also still count as an effective disposal

Yeah, I did say improvement was needed. But I still think we need him.
Some clubs do! Like us! Guthrie likes to kick it directly to opposition forwards.
None of our backs except Stewart and 2E are setting anything up anyway.
He's certainly not the only one. Would be dropping at least 3 of our backs before him.

So you prefer he coughs it up?

Not at all, merely a comment on DE being misleading. Even dangers looks good as every kick over 40m counts as effective.

Nothing like my definition of chip scab,A player who is always happy to sit on the edges of play waiting for an easy possession to come out off the back of someone else hard work, think Seagull at the beach feeding on hot chips at the picnic tables no effort required.

I'm a chip scab.
Something about them I just can't resist.

Just a quick comment on Bews,he's a role player in the side and does it pretty well,i believe he is also one of those tough nuts that can and does play through injuries and carries them pretty well, fortunate for us as Zuthrie was probable next in line the last couple of years.

Its funny that in a team you need people to do their job.
Menegola and Menzel for example got shit for being selfish - and rightly so on several occasions - but then you get Bewsy who throws his personal success stats out the window to ensure his opponent does SFA during the game - and does it supremely well - and he gets smashed for low stat numbers.

Cant' have it both ways.

GO Catters
A lot like Lonners. The outright best low possession player we have had in decades. Did his job brilliantly.

isnt that just a seagull

Then he is a general defender but everything I subsequently wrote still definitely applies.
It's guys like Laird or JJ who rack up 40+ off half back that normally occupy those stages of the rankings I'm pretty sure. General defender is too loose of a category imo, and definitely part of the problem.
