Adam Lyth? Like every other opener they’ve tried since Strauss and Cook we’re together, he wasn’t good enough, and disappeared off the scene.
That's the one. Still only 31! Wow.

I guess he was pretty bad but I seem to remember him batting well when they were chasing 60!

You get the feeling a few of the poms still have that slightly imperialistic view of windies cricket. Little bit patronising and rude.... Just a feeling I get. They have never taken them seriously in the media or on the ground in my lifetime though I never saw the windies at their best throughout that 30 year dominant period. I just have the sneaking suspicion three or four of their blokes don't think the windies deserve to be on the same ground as them. I'm naming root, broad, Anderson and stokes......... correct me if I'm totally wrong just a feeling I have about those tossers

Anderson doesn't like minorities you can tell. And stokes makes fun of disabled people you think he cares about blacks?? They need to get over themselves and start respecting the opposition. I doubt root is racist but what do I know??

I think you’ve given an absolutely perfect description of a LOT of their commentators and perhaps Root in particular was expecting next to no resistance in this series but the others I wouldn’t be so sure. Anderson’s sheer levels of effort so far in the series (he absolutely bowled himself into the ground in the first test) would suggest that he’s up for a fight. Stokes likewise - and although I didn’t see the incident, at some point last night Gabriel was bowling rockets at him, they got into a bit of verbal back and forth, and it was ended when Stokes himself bumped knuckles with the bowler.

It wasn't just last night phat I think the last time they toured stokes had a massive problem with Samuels giving him some banter....he grew up in Christchurch New Zealand FFS his dad played rugby league surely stokes can take a bit of verbal? He just had to make a drop kick of himself and last night as well. Gabriel I really really really like the look of. Seems to only chat or engage if engaged first... That fair to say? Stokes needs to leave these guys alone I reckon. The English seem to have a real problem with patronising west Indian men and I'm not sure it's the way to go the way the series is going??? Root gave the impression he only had to have his team rock up and they'd win.... Must be telling that these blokes play like possessed men against England. They don't seem to carry that same angry feeling playing the other countries except SA in the past

Lyth's best achievement in his international career was batting in a cable knit sweater in good old fashioned style.

You need at least one cable knit sweater wearer in every team I say. You’re just not fair dinkum otherwise. I seem to remember Mark Waugh used to wear it with aplomb all those times he strode out to compile the most attractive breezy 30 or 40-something score you’ve ever seen. Would seemingly have the bowling attack at his cable knitted mercy then out of nowhere he’d waft at something outside off stump and stride back to the pavilion to check the harness racing results. Good times.

that's why reviews are a thing. I'll be honest I thought it came straight off the bat but nope, straight off his arm

go Windies

Love the way Campbell plays the line of the ball. Doesn't chase the swing like T.Paine.

over pitched and a beautiful drive straight down the ground. gotta put away the bad balls when they're coming down like this and he done just that

There's almost too much happening in the wicket to get an edge lol.

Going to be fun watching Hetmyer bat on this wicket. Just a wild guess, but don't think he'll be leaving too many balls here.:D

Still swinging after 20+ overs. That grass is doing wonders for the ball
