But if there is no one else, then they are in.I didn't say they shouldn't be picked, I just said they're not locks. This SL bowling attack would struggle against the likes of Sydney Uni.
We don't want to fall into the Voges trap again.

If Shane warne was out of milk and Howie was in the ocean surfing at 6:30am 50 kilometres away you can guarantee he'd be out that ocean off to the 7/11 so fast his brown nose would turn pink againWait for the Howie games podcast with Pant and Stoinis talking about their heartbreaking ride to become legends

You're not even going to try and back up your obvious hacky point? I'm as disappointed as I am TRIGGERED (& salty).Honestly put me on block. If you can't handle a difference in opinion you need the safe space anyway.

Tricky thing is that on paper Harris, Burns & Labuschagne have all scraped together enough to have a case for being hard done by if they get dropped, and Khawaja's seniority and legacy record is likely more than enough to keep his spot. Will be interesting to see what happens.So...
Harris proving again his temperament is not up to test cricket.
Burns proving his technical deficiencies outside off will continue to bedevil him
Labuschagne showing there is a reason he averages 30 in FC cricket in spite of a nice compact technique.
None deserve to be going to the Ashes. All will fail badly if selected for exactly the same reasons. At least 2 probably will go, which tells you all you need to know about our chances.

It’s unbelievable that people still think we are a no.1 ranked side. We are 5th! Right now this is great for us! India made it look like we were Sydney Uni at times. We aren’t that good, so believe it that SL are pretty much on par competition wise with us.
We can continue to pick out faults in players, but the reality is that Joe Burns, Kurtis Patterson & Travis Head are walk up starts against England with Warner & Smith. Harris is 50/50 and will battle it out with Renshaw. Khawaja is in the squad but not starting XI. Wade and Maxwell probably need to be in the squad also.
All this about SL not being any good is humourous when we are a mid tier test nation. We aren’t that good!
Gotta give credit to Kurtis Patterson. 4 innings 3 hundreds against Sri Lanka including the warm up. Even though they are a shit team he's taken his opportunity like a champ. That's going to put huge pressure on labuschagne to keep his spot when Smith comes back
Ok, so who else are we picking to go to England?Test rankings are not relative and despite being close to SL in the rankings we are a lot better-especially at home. This SL team is worse than the WI team that got cleaned up by the CA xi. Sure India hammered us but smarter reviews and no fat arse Finch means we win in Adelaide. KP and JB are not walk up starts. We (and England) have learned lately that picking batsmen based on performances against substandard test nations can have dire consequences. I cbf to go on about test rankings but the deficiencies of the system are well known.
It will until one of these keepers has one too many jalapenos the night before and plays some butt music all sessionIs keeping wicket going to be open mic standup time for every game on seven now?

100% phat as always. This is a result wicket. How can we argue with that. Also....can any man deny me the argument that meadows has some outstanding boobage......trying to assess this pitch is a fruitless exercise.
One team has mediocre batsmen who are at home and certainly not facing the sideways-seaming conditions that seem to trouble them so much, against an attack that is, as hard as they’ve tried, not international standard.
On the flip side a visiting batting line up that rarely plays on bouncing pitches, that is missing its best player, has had two players retire hurt, and can get no consistency from virtually anyone outside of Chandimal who has been poor, is facing a group of proven test bowlers aside from Richardson who looks decent enough.
I’m all for lively surfaces but the idea of good pitch preparation isn’t to close a gap between two uneven sides. It is to reward good batting and good bowling. It seems to have done that.
