I’d rather have Patterson in against a duke ball. Having a batsman who usually bats 3 coming in at 6 in Patterson helps protect us from a wicket or two early

I tend to agree, different conditions over there but not completely convinced with Patterson just yet.Lets see how he goes in the rest of the shield games and the A team (if selected in that team) in the lead up to the ashes series.

Not convinced with anyone aside from Smith really. The Shield games should tell a big story regardless of who that player is

Don't know why everyone has Labuschagne in the squad. He hasn't set the world on fire and we don't need a leg spinning all rounder in England. I see him having an underwhelming second half of the Shield season and being overtaken. I wouldn't be taking Pucovski either; while it's great that the world has become much more aware of mental health issues and much more accommodating, there are limits to how much you can alter some situations to take into account mental health problems. Professional sport is one of them. He's had two incidents this year alone, I wouldn't be putting him on the plane for two months until he's shown he can manage it at a domestic level first.

The depth isn't great, in an ideal world I'd 100% agree with you with Laubasghne. Reality is that Aus A tour will be critical for a lot of batsmen, him included.

I'd take Maxwell, Wade or Bancroft over him as a batsman.

Maxwell against a swinging Duke ball? Bancroft would be in my squad anyway (wouldn’t take Harris)

You jumped off the Harris band wagon quickly.Important to see how heavily he scores in the remaining shield matches.

He’s getting out the same way over and over again. All well and good to get a pretty 25... but if you can’t leave wide trash you shouldn’t be opening.

Brancroft (Durham)
Siddle (Essex)
Zampa (Essex T20)
S Marsh (Glamorgan)
Worrall (Gloucestershire)
Klinger (Gloucestershire T20)
Christian (Nottinghamshire T20)
Ferguson (Worcestershire)
Burns (Lancashire for 10 County games)
Maxwell (Lancashire, presumably for all the rest)
Awesome thanks mate

10 of Cummins 28 came in the 1st Test vs Sri Lanka, also with one of the worst batting displays seen on Australian soil for some time.

I really dislike this practice of discounting a player's best performances to show why they aren't really all that good. It was bad when people were trying to do it with Pucovski and it's bad to be doing it with Starc now.
What a load of crap. Cummins had 9-for including a career-best 6-for in the last test vs India, the best batting team at the moment, while the rest of the team, ESPECUALLY Starc, bowled absolute shit nuggets. While the Australian bowling lineup struggled to get wickets, Cummins was able to do it with alarming regularity.

Don’t know why Renshaw seems to be struggling to find a place. You’d have thought Somerset would have done everything to get him back after making 3 100’s in 5 matches last season, but they have signed Azhar Ali instead.

Wonder if the ECB told them not to. Or shit, Langer was involved at Somerset wasn't he, let's blame Langer for white anting him instead ;)

He’s a constant under achiever.

Khawaja is an under achiever, he should be one of the best bats in world cricket but his underachieving is the same level as Harris’s best, which he also rarely ever reaches. It’s a no contest, Khawaja hands down.

Underachiever who averages 42 in test cricket... you’d take that.

Harris and Burns open, put Warner at 3.

Khawaja, meh, perennial disappobtment.

Warner has 20+ year tons opening...Harris hasn’t even got 1! Warner is going to open
