I did initially think that as well with the Optus stadium connection and all, but end of the day the stadium would give Optus enough penetration into the Western Australian market. This was probably the most cost effective way to get in to the SA market during the AFL season.

Yeah, could’ve been like what you see in English Football where a company will have both the stadium naming rights and the shirt sponsor as well (eg Emirates & Arsenal, Etihad & City)

I edited the ISC mock-up of the 2019 West Coast home guernsey to more accurately reflect the placement of the Hungry Jack's logo.

See official mock-up here: https://www.wceteamstore.com.au/isc/west-coast-eagles-2019-isc-home-adult-guernsey

I think the AFL will tell them to change it, remember the Bulldogs and the first Mission logo?

Like how the Crows do the sensible and have the same sponsor on the front regardless of whether it is a home or away game and likewise for the back.

Wish my club would follow suit, I want to see us in our home jumper with white or maroon shorts in away games that don't clash with the home team.

Am I the only one who noticed this?

Any further information? I haven't heard of this before

WCE are doing this from this year - same sponsors no matter what. Means Home & Away jumpers are now exactly the same jumper (Clash being the inverse, still with same sponsor config).

Numbers look sublimated too, and there's no GPS pouch on the jumpers. I'd say these are just some retails that have been used for the shoot, and I'd back ISC to have them ready for the JLT/Round 1

It looks like they're building a presence across Australia. WA has Optus Stadium, Victoria has the Melbourne Stars, SA now has the Crows. Wouldn't surprise me if they move into the NRL to appeal to NSW/QLD

Isn’t Optus stadium now called Perth stadium?

When Mission first came on board in 2009, the first batch had logos that were (for the time) huge. The AFL originally ticked them off but after complaints from other clubs, made them reduce the size.

Found this archived version of an article from the time:

THE Western Bulldogs have been forced to replace all their player guernseys and shorts after a late crackdown on the size of the sponsorship logo. Both Mission logos have been shrunk by 20 per cent under orders from the AFL.

The league originally ticked off on the size of the logos and the Dogs wore them in the Bushfire Appeal match against Essendon on February 13.

But the following Monday, the Dogs received notification from the AFL that the logos were too big. The Dogs have suspicions they were "dobbed in" by up to three rival clubs.

"We're surprised other clubs would be interested," Scott Seward, Bulldogs general manager consumer operations and development, said last night.

The AFL's decision to reverse its original ruling disappointed sponsor Mission Foods, which is injecting about $1.5 million into the club this year.

It has also caused headaches for the Dogs, who have had to replace 200 guernseys and pairs of shorts.

Both home and away guernseys and shorts had been produced featuring the now banned logo.

The AFL, as it originally approved the outfits, has agreed to pay for the replacements.

AFL regulations stipulate logos must be no bigger than 80 sq cm.

The thing is that by todays standards with smaller, tighter jumpers, the logos don't really look that big anymore.

Thanks for that, quite interesting actually. The jumper doesn't look too bad by today's standards (it is a bit big though), the shorts do look quite strange. It would be interesting to see if that rule is still in action (I've got no idea where those kinds of rules are written) but West Coast would be pushing it with the new HJ's logo (which, if I may say my 10 cents worth - is terrible)

Wonder if they sold the 200 jerseys and shorts

For great effect here is the same player in the same pose:

I dont understand why ISC are using their 2016 template for AFLX, their current template for AFL and their 2014 template for country clubs and state league teams... Its pretty strange

It's appropriate that they use their crappiest template

anyone got a pic of that fitzroy player that wore pants in games in the 90s ?
Michael Reeves wore longer shorts and padding during the 80's due to easy bruising. Do you mean him?
