It seems like labor want the remaining rump of the coalition to be pro moderate

It's the best result for the country - even if an ALP government managed to last 3 or 4 well governed terms, the LNP would get back in eventually based on the idiot "time for a change!" swinging voters. When that happens, it's better to not have another government comprised of brazenly corrupt bigots with imaginary friends handing out corporate welfare neither we nor the planet can afford as a weapon in their dehumanising culture wars, and instead have the liberal capitalist party, that they haven't been since before Howard, doing the usual too-and-fro on union vs corporation, while leaving the social and cultural stuff alone.

The CGT raise is moronic, that combined with neg gearing changes and a struggling property market arent a great combination

The problem is that Bowen appears (like Wayne the abacus Swan) to take Treasury numbers at face value without taking in to account behavioural changes.

There is a very good reason capital is taxed at a lower rate than income.
Residential property should not be considered capital. Because investors compete against people who need the house to live in.
I would be happy to leave some form of cgt discount for shares, commercial property etc. it is arguable that a 50% discount is too generous (it was only CPI before)

Edit typed residential instead of commercial - corrected now

We're LONG past that stage , that time came when the libs ****en CANCELLED parliament that time all so they could avoid having their members under s44 clouds referred to the high court ( conveniently that was AFTER they stitched up the alp/green members )

Where Is John Kerr, Now That We Need Him?

Yes they did. If we didn’t pay any welfare for nearly three years the deficit would be licked.

Of course at a 100k per prisoner per year we might just have an even bigger deficit - not to mention all our insurance bills going up.

Theres a good percentage of those you cut welfare on will resort to stealing to get by.

As I said at the time, that petition was a rare display of political judgment from Turnbull. Those who unequivocally put their names to another PM execution will rightfully suffer the consequences.

So it strengthens Bills position too?

Christopher Pyne on Insiders

Bill Shorten Bill Shorten . Unions Unions Stop the Boats Stop the Boats

Then accused the Security Services of leaking the material

That was an absolute train wreck. She was positively shrill at times.
Shrill is very apt

I have to ask does your Gaydar start pinging when you see Pyne?

Should be mandatory for all political interviews to just start flashing and playing sirens when the politician doesn't answer the question posed.

Pyne would have broken the system.

Lie detector in the bottom corner would be so much fun they would never go on again.

Howards trick was to go live on the ABC shows and waffle so he could waste the time and not answer a question.
While Labor leaders were getting recorded and had the answers in total after editing the waffle.

Part of what Rudd was alluding to in his recent article, as how journos go harder on Labor as having to be pure, while the others get a pass mark because expectations of truth, logic and morality are lowered

No so much " pinging " as " YEEEEOWWWWW MY GOD PLEASE MAKE IT STOPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP "

They just lost a vote on legislation on the floor of the House - hasn't happened for 90 years. We're comin' for ya!

75 to 74 vote after vote.
Could a no confidence be next?

First time in nearly 100 years...
I seem to remember the narrative during the Gillard years that a lost vote on the floor of the House should be met with an immediate election.
