What can we expect from the new Shorten government

Either way under Bill we are guaranteed a return to the carnage on the sea. Detention centers filled to overflowing, ricketty boats smashed against rocks and an eyewatering lifetime bleed on the Ausyralian taxpayer.
Who am i loading up on for the premiership Nostra ?......

By weakening border security what the government really means is Peter Dutton will lose his final say on whether a person can or cannot come to Australia. Would you be happy with a Labor Home Affairs Minister holding the sort of power Dutton currently wields?

Strange take on border security or is that steady as she goes on the good ship Kevin07, was Bill in the engine room in the tha' days  ...

Election is months away and I can already see history viewing the Shorten govt as underwhelming.

And some of us are totally unsurprised by your deflection

Scomo talking about mettle. Couldn’t even prosecute an NEG which all but two dozen MPs agreed with

There’s your failure for all to see. No one wants to discuss THAT. Look over there boats!

The **** are you talking about?

Morrison's inadequacies have no bearing on Shorten's inadequacies. Neither will go down as memorable PMs, Shorten should at least last a bit longer.

12/02/19 and the Shorten Government has already started legislating despite not actually being the Government yet. Morriscum is cooked.

Can you elaborate as this reads very much like sour grapes.

Not optimistic one way or the other, the trainwreck we have right now is not likely to improve given the power government has whether Labor or Liberal is limited because there's so many independents and minor parties with clout that make passing bills through the upper and lower houses like pulling teeth.

It's taken 90 years since the government in so called power has lost a vote on it's own legislation, if there weren't independents like Phelps, Sharkie and co then this wouldn't have happened.

In reality the power to pass legislation is shared by many with widely varying views on said legislations.

It's a reflection of what the electorate think of the main parties hence the rise of small party and independent senators.

So Labor will promise this promise that but will be pushing shit up hill. Basically any government we have is relatively toothless and many promises don't come to pass.

The electorate will vote them out when they can't deliver on policy and guess what the next car crash comes into so called power. Rinse and repeat.

That may sound pessimistic but it is a reality.

Labor joining with the Greens to force a weakening of our borders says all you need to know really. Hopefully in Bill's arrogance he keeps assuming the election is his and keeps demonstrating what a disaster his govt will be.
Unfortunately your theory is somewhat undermine by the fact that no-one has weakened Australia's borders more than this current government.

chortle.. and if it wasn't for the 'rich/poor'.. we might not be able to
sacrifice the rich/poor...

these people are concentrating on their own weather of living... they will be able to survive without accessing a
smitten series of monetary values..

there is only a few of them and they don't do much but live without taking much from the guv... ernment..

however it is a travesty that Mr Bill Shorten would serve on them some kind of impractical version of freedom..
He was to retrieve money from these people who really have no great impact on the greater society and in fact
takes less than he is wanting to attribute value to...

But he is working to retrieve value from something that in the end will inflict difficulty on a grand number of people
and who will become a burden on the other strategy like the health system.. Going in one ear and out the other...
Going down one street and turning left to a winding road..

Tragedy..

Could not understand that decision, still dont.
Geraldton was because of the square kilometre array - that needs masses of bandwidth so it was logical to do gero at the same time.

Lucky us seeing as once again wa is getting f}#%*^ over with the lowest percentages of houses on fttp and the highest on fttn.

We are really getting the shaft on this the national average being 48% fttn - wa gets 60%

You don't really understand elections do you?

They're both as bad as each other says every person who actually voted for this cluster f*** of a government by way of mitigation.

Even Kevin07?

I'd suggest Kerryn Phelps has done more for the Libs election chances in weeks than the previous Wentworth member did in years.

I heard yesterday that Katter was able to ensure $243,000,000 in funding for his electorate in exchange for securing his vote with the government on funding issues, basically buying the security of the house so the government would be able to pass funding bills.

There are 99,900 people in the Division of Kennedy - about $2,400 each.

Grubby politics keeping the cycle going because it's a direct return to the electorate attributed to the sitting member who then crows about it until the next election.

Interesting life cycle of political parties potentially coming out of it though.
Two party
Two party majorities with minor parties in Senate
Two party majority with minor parties holding House of Reps seats
Two party majority with minor parties holding House of Reps seats and other single issue parties filling Senate seats
Two party minority with minor parties and independents
?
Majority independents forming new party block, previous major parties with minority positions
Independent Member Party now three party system
Never again do we see a majority in the House of Reps.
